The “Delayed Honeymoon” Big Rail Tour

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Almost at the end of our day at the Maritime Museum.
By this time tomorrow we’ll be cruising out of Sydney heading for Perth, four days away. 😊
Had a personal guided tour of HMAS Vampire, the last of the ‘Big Gun Ships’.
Got to play Captain in the Ops Centre! 😁

Also had a look at the view from the ‘Meccano’ lighthouse — iron girder frame with steel plate exterior — moved from near Townsville when it was replaced by automation.
The lighthouse:

The view from the top:

A few more smaller vessels to have a sticky at, then it’s a take-away dinner (cos we’re both knackered).

ps. I cheated. The access to the top of the lighthouse was closed, but they had a TV showing live pix from the top. 😉😁

We’re approaching Broken Hill.
Because of delays along the way from Sydney, we’re running late. 😕
We’re so far behind schedule that the outings planned here have been cancelled. 😩

Grrrrh. I was hoping that the bozos that run the 'off train adventures' would have sorted that stuff out by now. Once you miss your slot it stuffs up everything .
It was the same when we did that trip 2 years ago. The company blamed the covid backlog. The staff quietly blamed inept management. We eventually got a bit of a refund.
One day, I'll get to see the Superpit in daylight.
Apparently it's all owned by a big ol' American owned holding company. As you would no doubt be aware, the on train experience is faultless.
Cheers

That's not very fair at all, I hope a decent refund is forthcoming, but apart from that, we hope you both are enjoying your selves. ;)

Arrived in Perth last night.
Fish n chips room service for dinner, we were so tired.
Currently on a bus wine tour in the Swan Valley.
One winery down, three to go! 🥂🍷

Dinner Under the Stars at Rawlinna Station (1 million acres!)
was actually Dinner Under Light Cloud. Very few stars visible. However, the meal & guitarist/singer were both very good.

Couple more days in Perth and on Tuesday we fly to Darwin to catch The Ghan. 🚂😁

I think I caught a cold at the Dinner Under the Stars/Clouds.
It has been getting worse, so I’ve been sitting in Royal Perth Hospital ED for the past FOUR HOURS (2030~0050 WA time) waiting to see a doctor!
With my immune system out to lunch, a simple cold can rapidly escalate to pneumonia if not treated promptly. I’ve spoken to Triage four times to request some action.
So far: nada.
Our wonderful public health system at work… 🙄

Ray finally got treated with drugs, x/ray and sent home (hotel) to sleep before heading to Darwin to catch the train.
