Bruce, sorry I forgot to tell you about the saw that I use. It's not too expensive ( couple hundred at best).
I bought it from a lapidary supply shop at on event that we were selling at. It is a table saw that has a set up to keep water flowing onto the diamond coated, circular blade, to keep blade and rocks cool. Helps the blades to last longer too. I know these guys have gone out of business, but do check on some lapidary suppliers sites.
Hope you can have some fun with these bits of ancient trees.
