Goerge what is the make and model of the phone?
I recently updated from my (preferred) dumb phone to a smart Samsung phone but rather than buy one that is locked to either "big" company I simply bought it from BigW and it is unlocked from either Telstra or Optus.
I can pop in any $2 SIM from either company (or reseller by any name) & it just works.
Maybe I paid a bit more but I have no plan (time payment) & can move on any time I like without penalty.

Gee, Goerge,
You're really sensitive about the spelling of your name!

Tonight we are parked up at Inca Creek RA not far from Mt Isa and the Telstra shop ;) Going to catch up with the lovely boy now/ man that used to baby sit for me in NZ. Last night it was rather cool again so back to electric blankets tonight. Heard on the UHF a couple of truckies talking and it went like this. "Hey Rob bloody cars and f***** caravans everywhere even on the road lining up for fuel at Camooweal" Rob replied, just ram the c's off the F'n road" Charming hey? But I have had some very nice truckies thanking me for backing off when they pulled out to pass me.

Hi Dot good luck with the Telstra mob, diesel is $149.9 litre here at the moment. Keep traveling well and a photo of you two in your beanies would be good for the boss. Cheers Robert

Dot we had that a few years coming down the Bruce highway just outr of Rocky. I had had enoughof this pair & decided to have my say!!!! Well after I had finished there was silence for a while then another truckie came on with" about time someone had their say to these rogues in the trucking industry" The replies after that were so overwhelming in agreement UHF was rather quiet for a long time after that.

Sometimes truckies just forget there are others just sitting and listening in on their chatter.
A polite 'excuse me' and ask a simple question like 'where is the best place for a feed along this road' & all of a sudden you are talking to Gentlemen again.
I've found the same in cafes and restaurants listening to 'girls' and their conversations behind me.
I'd rather listen to crappy chatter knowing the drivers are wide awake than total silence and wondering if they are half asleep?
It's good we are all a bit different rather than all the same! How boring would THAT be?
