Re: Wayne world
Now I got a full set again might think about next summer and get four more batteries this will brink me up to 400ah might just be enough to run Air conditioning or when a wet week pop up

Just been to figure out configuration and adjustments to meter or gauges but till I get more government money
that they are handling out might have to wait a couple of months

Intercepted news for you to consider:--
"Timing The one-off payment will be paid automatically from 31 March 2020 by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Over 90 per cent of payments will be made by mid-April 2020".
You may only have to wait a few weeks. Does anybody know if Services Australia the same as Centrelink ?

Think I have a problem one cell have started to swell
not on charge as it is got 3.3volts
it was next to one of the dead cell

Re: Wayne world
I hope you strapped them into the packs before you charged them, good luck getting the straps back on if you didn't. You will need either a press or very strong "G" clamps to compress the pack, unscrew the cap out of the swollen cell/s to drop the internal pressure, but do it when the outside temp is cold, all the electrolyte will boil away out the vent hole if the cell gets too warm. Don't leave the vent plug out either, just let the pressure out, then make sure the valve disc is rubber side down over the hole and the spring is big end on the disc and little end locates under the cap. Be very careful when you take the plug out, no open flames and keep a rag or something over the top so you don't loose the bits, it will quite likely come out in a rush just as you reach the last turn of the thread.Mrcoolabah1au wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 10:03 pm Think I have a problem one cell have started to swell

EDIT: Put the single cell charger across that cell and check the voltage, if it suddenly goes up to 3.7v and back to 3.3v when you disconnect it, that cell is stuffed as well. Don't leave the charger on the cell for very long or it will swell even more and you will never get it compressed again

Re: Wayne world
Now that I have the 300ah nearly going just wondering about adding more to make it four hundred ah
after I bought the battery it would be just a matter of re strapping them into smaller groups as I still have the strapping from the previous upgrade the I would only need a couple more backing plates or end plate think I got enough brass to join the cells
I was think four pack of four strapped together with battery cable

Re: Wayne world
You're a worry Wayne
How about you get this lot going again before you take on the next step eh? The end plates and strapping and cell links etc aren't just off the shelf items, they are custom made for each battery pack we build because there is always a =/_ tolerance in the cell casing size resulting in straps that fit one group of 4 cells will either be too tight or too loose on another set of 4 cells.

Re: Wayne world
Chasing 2amp on victron said there is -2.3 amp all the time even in full sun
The junsi is working well telling me voltage
The solar switch is on in the write position
The Kemo timer has a green light
So what next on the check list

Re: Wayne world
In full sun, check the following voltages using a good multi meter:
With the red lead on terminal 2+ and the black lead on the Victron shunt, what is the voltage?
With the red lead on terminal 1- and the black lead on the Victron shunt, what is the voltage?

PS. The relay is only a sample photo, if anyone actually buys one of these relays, never try to run more than 20 amps through it and use a fan cooled heatsink, otherwise it will get that hot the guts pops out and it fails in the permanently on state. These relays have destroyed a lot of batteries so although they don't cost much to buy on evilbay, they can be very expensive in the long run ......
