Eggzackery ..... Some people just see pretty and split window and assume it's worth big money ..... been more than one Kombi Club member caught that was .... a multi show winner turned out to be a totally unsafe to drive mechanically and built out of body filler and lots of coats of 2 pack paint to hold it together ..... the other was an E Bay buy as a barn find that looked to have only surface rust and the original paint ..... but split window kombis rust from the inside out because they have double and sometimes triple layer panel construction that wasn't rust proofed or seam sealed, so the dust from the dirt roads builds up, fills with moisture and starts eating its way to the outside ...... if you see rust in an outer panel on a split window kombi ..... the repair will be major, it has to have all the outer panels removed to reach where the rust started and rebuilt from there ..... that is why they are worth so much money fully restored ..... if you were paying hrly rate to a panel-beater to do the restoration, even at the crazy prices they sell for, you would be losing money .....

When people say they wished they had kept their old split window kombi, it would have had to be stored in an oil bath to be worth much today ..... unless it was super rare like a Samba, then just the ID plates with the numbers are worth thousands of dollars if they trace back to the factory original .....

Terry can you just draw a pic of the workshop block (take a pic of the drawing and put on here) with measurements on it. Then the size of the containers and where on the block they will be, and of course where the winnie will be and also the cars. Might help us (me) to picture things better, plus give you something to do.

If I didn't know better, I could be lead to believe you were serious  Like I need to find something to do

Picture the concrete slab, the 40 ft container fits from one side to the other, now draw that as a square and that is the size of the dome that will go over the two containers .....

They are 40 ft long (12 mtrs) and from the outside edge of each container will be 40 ft (12 mtrs) apart, that will leave a 7 mtr space in the middle between the containers ....

Here ya go Dottie, it's dark time now so I have a bit of free time
Containers on slab1.jpg
The grey part is the concrete slab sort of how it is positioned in the yard. The dome will go over the containers like this
DT4040-front-view-double-truss-container-dome-shelter-scaled.jpg
This is how the dome will be mounted, but the space in the centre will be 30 ft smaller, the photo in a 70ft wide by 40 ft long construction

Much clearer ProfT thank you, so how many cars will be positioned around the yard or are you going to flip some off?

I flip a lot of people off, but they just ignore me
The intention behind building the dome shed is to fix them and sell some, the Jag and the Jimny will probably go, maybe the silver MG4, maybe even the merc, although I really want to convert that one using the Lexus gear if I don't install them in the Winnie.
The Lexus will go when stripped out, as will the orange Taxi Prius

Good question, well asked  I believe the plan is to head up to our friend's place in Emerald for his 60th on Anzac Day, be back for Taggerty .... then back here to check on house progress ..... no idea from that point onwards though

I just want a back seat preferable a split one for the dead boat
Split so I can hide fuel tank and battery etc behind them I want to make a tarp to cover the whole lot
Pruis would be good but I hear there is not a full set left free   :D
