Ok, yes it's been a long time since I've updated anyone....so here goes....

After being "Yard Dwellers" at Dot and Georges for six weeks, instead of the intended four days over Xmas....due to the auto trans spitting the dummy and having to wait for a manual gearbox to be replaced.....and during which time we met up with some great members....shorter term Yard Dwellers....which meant good food, lots of it, and me putting on 7 kilos (all your fault, George!), we headed back to Grantville.

We have a base there, which in 7 years we've used a total of six months, so as we have a caretaking contract coming up in Bowen, (long story), we decided to sell the place....which is a static caravan with solid annex and veranda, by the sea. This meant boxing up all our STUFF (and believe me I had no idea how much ST UFF we had), and Greg hiring a furniture van, to drive all the STUFF up to a lockup in Bowen.
Well. The furniture van wasn't big enough. So we hired a furniture trailer as well.
I stayed behind. Off he went, with 8 days to complete a round trip, including a day to unload, of 5650 kms.
Trailer tyres burst, due to a piece of metal breaking. Greg phones "Moveit" spoke to Stan, the Ops Manager, who told him it was his fault and his problem. So he unhitched the trailer, went to the nearest town, got a tool to lift up the side (dual axle) what's it called ...oh yea, a JACK, not supplied, put on the spare, then Greg bought two new tyres himself. (Actually with MY credit card), and on he went....
Not far from Bowen, the signs said 40km rough road, stones, so he slows down, but the boy racer coming the other way kept going fast, and shortly afterwards the rear window of the van exploded. (Long story short...the van company just removed $550 from my account in payment for a replacement and said they didn't charge us for loss of use)!!!!
I froze my credit card payment to the trailer company, and did my usual nut, sent the receipt to them for the tyres, mentioned social media a few times....and they refunded my $185 for the tyres!
Greg gets back, and we start sorting out the rest of the STUFF and cleaning.
Oh, and in the meantime I had had an operation on my hand while all this was going on....
The days are hot. The airconditioning in the car stops working. It was due to a pipe on the turbo digging into a pipe for the aircon, so we spent a whole day eventually finding a replacement in a scrapyard some 150 kms away. Fixed it in an hour....Regas...$250
SOLD the unit first viewer, so all good there.
So now, again long story short, we are sitting outside the Bargo Pub, camped out back, free water, free power, about to go in for a pub lunch.
Heading to the Wanderest in Richmond tomorrow, Greg is going to service MY Jimny which my son has been using for two years, dogs booked into kennels so we can train it into Sydney for a couple of days $250 each unlimited travel. Staying with DIL in her dungeon.
We have been told we have won the contract, so we will be 'settled' in Bowen for a year, maybe two. The caravan will go in for repairs after the wheel coming off last year (wheel nuts not tightened enough), and apparently there's a good repairer not too far away (like 200 kms away in Townsville).
Yesterday Greg forgot to peg down our awning so it took a flight onto the top of the caravan, breaking the right arm. Although I was well away at the time it was MY fault as he was distracted. And I honestly didn't pull my top off and show 'im me tits!
Anyhow, he's jerry rigged it with electric ties, of which he has a huge stock (maybe he's planning some fun and games)?.
That's about it.
Oh no, not quite.
The Humpback Smartvan we have had sitting in the sales yard in Port Wakefield. . . Nah...that needs another post...it's too painful to write about at the moment.

But, we are in good health, and looking forward to catching up with some of you soon. We have just been told that the guy whose mango farm we looked after for three months last year in Mt Carbine, has to have a bypass op next week, plus he is going to have to have chemo for bowel cancer .....and he is the size of our George (of Dot and George fame).
They've had to abandon their mango farm for the duration.

So we are counting our lucky stars, we see them every night, clearly, especially in the bush.
Your health is your wealth.

Much love to everyone who has got this far.

A missive on our Humpy will be coming......

Think we all have to take everyday as a bonus, so many of our friends have health issues, your health is your wealth is so true.
Hope all your problems are behind you & all goes good in the future, Bowen looks a nice area to spend a year or two.

Oh I had tears, Chuck.....but had to laugh when the dogs came over and tried to lick them off my face! A good nights sleep and all's well with my world.
