I'm sorry, I just picked a ramdom bloke that popped up in a Australian history site when searching for Ray's last question. Sounded quite a colourful bloke.

Some more tips to knock this one over.

1. I partially mentioned his name in my first post.
2. The port was was named in his honour by Matthew Flinders in 1796.
3. His first and last name start with the same letters.
4. Passed away; Hobart 1831, aged 81.

Absolutely, he even tried to cross the Blue Mountain, think the teaching of Australian history could be improved, I had never heard of him & he achieved so much in his life time.

Another history question, in the early days 4 cows & 2 bulls which arrived with the first fleet escaped, who was in charge of them when they escaped ? how long were they missing ? how many & where did they find them ?

Reads like a Ray question, multiple answers.

Correct, a convict named Edward Corbett was in charge of the 4 cows & 2 bulls which escaped, 7 years later after hearing about a heard of cattle near the Nepean, Henry Hacking located same in 1795, finding a herd of 100, they became known as the Cowpastures Cattle, Henry Hacking killed the lead bull after it attempted to attack the party.
It was very interesting reading about his life.

Your turn Macca.

There were 3 epic cattle drives all commencing in 1883 endeavouring to settle the Kimberleys. One ended in 85, one in 84 and one in 86.There were probably many more but who was the leader of the 83-86 expedition? From where to where?
