Re: Bernie and Carols Isuzu fit out.
Ok ever had one of those days? I think we had three of them today.
Today has been planned for a few days just waiting for the rain then wind to drop, and it all came together this day.
We planned to put the three solar panels up [200 watts each] plus the windgard antenna and if time allowed the four season hatch.
Was a freshish morning and a heavy dew so had to wait for the sun to do its thing which happened around 10am.
So we started the lift I have trellis and plank beside bus plus a small free standing adjustable bench thingy, first lift to the afore mentioned bench thingy, with Carols assistance me standing on the bench, then the finale lift to top of roof, by the way the roof is 3.2Mts high. I had a old blanket on roof to assist with sliding panels into position. All good had two up and sicoed to roof, stopped for lunch. After lunch the third went up with out to much trouble.
I then removed the existing hatch to help with the locating of holes for the antenna...That when the day started going pear shaped.
I marked out the spot for the antenna I started to drill and then bugga a beam I didn't know was there, no pop rivets or any thing to say beam was there.
But unfortunately for me that was the only spot I could put the antenna so I had to drill.
All good or so I thought, I had to also drill thru this same beam for the antenna cable which in turn didn't allow me to conceal the cable.
But another brain wave... run the cable down the beam [its about 1"1/2 box] all good so I thought run the cable to where I could then drill horizontal [hole roof hatch came from] and all will work, so hole drilled cable run to new location. Then to run the cables from the solar panels thru the roof, hole drilled 'BUGGA' another beam and I'm on the wrong side of it, not a problem I think just drill new hole on other side of beam and all will be good again. Yep you guest it double bugga I drilled thru the internal roof lighting wires. And no I didn't swear......much.
So that's about when I shut the bus and went and had a beer or three.
I do have pics but will put them up on another day

Re: Bernie and Carols Isuzu fit out.
I feel your pain Bernie. You go to all that trouble of measuring the spot from the inside in both directions, climb on the roof and mark out the spot, cut the hole and it's not even close to where it was supposed to be
So the next hole you decide to drill from the inside out, it's gotta be in the right place then, surely.... exactly the right place, pick up the solar cable laying on the roof and tie it around the drill bit resulting in the drill now attached to the outside of the roof, and you tightened the blue blazes out of the chuck so the drill bit wouldn't keep slipping
Climb on the roof, untangle the cable, sure enough the drill bit now slips through the roof and the drill lands on the edge of the electrical crimps box sending them from one end of the bus to the other. 2 holes drilled, one in the wrong place and a few hrs cleaning up to do, and it looked like such an easy job

Life wasn't meant to be easy.
Hope you have a better day today, sounds as though it is all coming together & you will be off soon.

Onya Dot and Terry, thanks Shirley yes today has been kinder.
The solar panels [still to be wired] and the TV antenna and the three way hatch are now installed. The wiring that was damaged is now repaired and all's good with the world again. So here are some pics.
