A palm size black backed frog had ended up in the cat's ceramic water bowl, the sides were too slippery for it to get back out and the cat was frantic to save it .... and get his water bowl cleaned. I was worried the cat would be on the frog as soon as I tipped it out, but no, he was happy to watch it hope away and out through the gap under the wire mesh, then waited till his water bowl was refilled and all was well again with the world.
There are 3 water bowls and a trigger sensing water fountain in the house, so it seems it was the frog he was so concerned about ...... cats can surprise you with their compassion sometimes, they aren't always natural born killers, but we still get the dead mouse left some where on the back patio pavers, so they aren't on the protected species list it seems
