Morning all.
Bernie, is the gas cooker working ok?
Most times the problems are traced back to the regulator at the bottle.
Good morning daily
Re: Good morning daily
No. The fridge and stove/oven are working ok.
This is the gas jet.
Bernie.

Re: Good morning daily
Morning folks a late rise this morning, Bernie check the second hand shops for some oxy tip cleaners they may help.
Had the new gas hot water system installed yesterday now to get the AC working properly. Service agent finally convinced the control board needs replacing so has to order one in. Will take a week maybe, this day and age who knows. If it is a know problems surely one or two held in stock is not too hard to figure out.
Any way just another day in modern Australia, cheers Robert

Thanks Robert, will see what the RV places say, I have it on at the moment, I use the stove lighter to keep flame going. But it's not the usual noise it makes, not loud.RobertNotBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 8:53 am Morning folks a late rise this morning, Bernie check the second hand shops for some oxy tip cleaners they may help.

Bernie, Nigel says to forget about the heater and make sure you're parked high and dry.
It's going to rain.

Re: Good morning daily
Good morning everyone. The gkids had a great day fishing yesty. Hats and sunblock were slapped on. It's a bit warm here already, but not sure what's on the agenda today.
Bernie, try some carry cleaner spray on the gas jet. Just wait til it has cooled off first. Safe travels everybody.

Re: Good morning daily
maybe give the solenoid a bit of a tap.
maybe remove the pressure test port screw and check for correct pressure. (all done using a certified a gas fitter )
mud wasp nest in the burner tube?
also, move the PVC hose that is melted to the burner tube. (fire risk)

Re: Good morning daily
First job, read through these instructions and deem if you feel comfortable taking on the repair, if not, you need a gas fitter that understands about cleaning LPG burners and tuning the air flow .... not all gas fitters are the same ......
Looking at the photo, locate the gas tube that runs from the solenoid to the jet. You need to hold the solenoid firmly while you undo the pipe fitting, be sure to use a spanner that fits tight (not a shifting spanner or a pair of pliers) if you don't have a pipe spanner that fits it.
Next, remove the jet holder with the pipe, count the number of threads exposed to it gives you a base line where to reinstall it as this is often part of the air to gas ratio tuning.
When you get it out, it will probably have a tube with slots cut in it, this is the way the 3 way fridges are made, or it might just be a jet into a venturi. Which ever it is, this will most likely be blocked up with black carbon soot. If this is what you find, then it indicates the burner needs more air in the mix, so keep this in mind when you reassemble the burner.
Next, clean out the slots or venturi and burner where the flame base starts. You might need a drill bit for the burner holes or a hacksaw blade for the burner slots and a round file to clean out the venturi.
Next, remove the gas jet and spray in each direction with carby cleaner, nothing else will shift the gum build up, so it must be a pressure pack tin of carby cleaner.
Run a length of wire from the end of the tube till it comes out where the jet fits. If there is a brass or sponge filter in there, put that bit in the rubbish, it can't be cleaned and isn't actually needed. Spray the tube in both directions with carby cleaner till it runs clear, you can put the jet and burner assembly in a bowl (not plastic) and collect all the carby cleaner in that so you also get a soak tank.
Now look for the igniter wire that sparks against the jet, is it clean and clean all around it? When you reassemble all the bits, that igniter wire needs to be close to the jet but not touching it.
Mix up some washing up detergent and water in a squirt bottle and spray all the gas joints looking for bubbles, fire the heater up and repeat the spray test to check for leaks.
Next, you need to be able to see the burner flame, it should have a well formed light blue peak in the centre and the darker flame around it. If it is weak and not well formed, it needs more air, if it a sharp and sparks seem to appear in the flame, it needs less air ....
If all that worked, you have earned yourself a beer or drink of your choice

Good arvo, too hot to go outside so doing the washing. Had a baby blackbird on the lawn yesterday, took it over to where the nest was, today it was back on the lawn , G picked it up and noticed the ants were all over it and it's eyes looked closed so down to the vet to see if anything can be done but I doubt it. They will let us know.
