The Surface Pro runs on Windows 10 and has either the phasing out i5 or the latest i7 processor ( with the exception of JB who's still flogging them with win 8 )
In the next week or two Microsoft will be releasing their new update for Win 10 and setting the benchmark at build 1056 ( called the Fall Update )

Most cheapy new computers these days run at a min i5 processors with 4/6 gig Ram and 250/ 600 g H/d , the better ones run with an i7 processor.
And once again their mostly ( the better ones that is ) are SSD ( solid state ) and as has been mentioned earlier it's so much faster than the old motherboard type.
The only disadvantage with SSD's is they're almost a throw away item as there's very little you can actually fix inside of them.

As I've said before I volunteer at a place where we re-furbish computers and resell them at huge discounts to the public that have a health card or more .

For instance this week we obtained 2 Toshiba note book size laptops running i7 processors 4 g ram 500g H/d , amongst other desktops etc.
They'll possibly sell fully refurbished inside to the accredited public for about $150 with either a legal w7 or w10 ( which ever is wanted )

The one and only thing you need to be sure of ... make sure it has at least 16gb of RAM or more.
And 4G connection capability, if you go tablet, Dottie.
My Kindle is Wi-Fi only... drives me nuts, 'cos I can't always find a Wi-Fi network point... (not always near a Hungry Jacks or Maccas shop!)

Ray,
I have been told that the best Wi-Fi network is your local Target store.

I noted that in SA there were a number of public telephone boxes (a rapidly disappearing breed in themselves) with the Wi-Fi logo on the roof.
Of course, I did not have my Kindle on hand at the time... Murphy's!
Looks like Telstra is moving into the 21st Century!
