Any model numbers Kappy?Kappy wrote:Been a while, but my new regulator arrived.
Turns out my line is 5/16th and the the new reg is 3/8 so acquired an adapter and connected.
Bummer nothing worked.
Seems I'm a bit of a dummy not turning gas cook-top correctly so it works.
However gas hot water still not working.
My unit is a dometic Gas/electric unit that seems to be standard from what I've seen fitted to various rigs.
There is 2 reset buttons on face of unit, however they don't seem to work ,don't move at all.
Does any one have any experience with these units
Cheers

Had a second look and seems someone changed it on me haha.
Its a suburban HWS model SW6DEA, not a Dometic.

Re: Gas Issue
Yes the 240V works fine just the gas I suspect the reset buttons should have a function, but they don't move at all.
When the unit is switched to the reset inside is extinguished.

Re: Gas Issue
I reckon it might not be getting the 12V feed for the igniting bit.
When you turn it on inside it can take up to 10-15 seconds before it starts clicking. Can you hear the igniter clicking at all?
Where are you finding these reset buttons?

Re: Gas Issue
The reset will pop out if it has been triggered, otherwise it remains all the way in so it would feel like it doesn't move. Reading through this rather dodgy looking manual that someone has used as a note pad http://caravansplus.com.au/pdf/suburban-instruct.pdf there is no mention of the piolot jet size, so maybe this unit has spark ignition to the main burner, there is mention of this later on but not much info. Check there is 12v available at the heater and the fuse is in good condition, put a test light such as a 21w bulb between the power supply and negative wires inside the heater itself. Turn the 240vac off before doing any of these steps just to protect yourself from accidentsKappy wrote:Yes the 240V works fine just the gas I suspect the reset buttons should have a function, but they don't move at all.

Re: Gas Issue
You still in Mannum Terry? lol
The reset 'button' next to the on/off switch inside your rig isn't a reset switch. It's just a light to indicate that the clicking igniter is getting ready to work.
If no gas it'll try half a doz times & then pause for a minute or so & then try again.

That's exactly whats happening the switch and light are inside the bus, (earlier pics)BruceS wrote:I reckon it might not be getting the 12V feed for the igniting bit.

The reset buttons are on the actual unit.
When I activate the switch inside the bus the red light remains on for about 10 seconds, I can hear a clicking noise and the red light goes out only to return a few seconds later and the process continues until I actually turn the switch off.
Sounds like its trying without success.

Re: Gas Issue
Check the thermal cut out thingy should be inside unit looks like a fuse inside some plastic .
If you have one of said thingys remove it and just do a straight wire across from point to point if it then lights you know what the problem is .
If not ...I don't know...
Bernie .

Re: Gas Issue
Kappy the next move is to see if you can detect the spark when it's clicking. Either it's not happening or there is no gas there to burn.
