Re: Well, ABOUT to be…
things are getting heavier for me these days. I reckon I'd be struggling with the towball masses that people are quoting these days.

Re: Well, ABOUT to be…
Evening all,
It's 2100 and all about us is in darkness, apart from … GUESS WHO?
We're camped at the Coonabarabran Golf Club's free campsite behind the clubrooms.
It's a piece of bush that has been bulldozed. No facilities (unless you count garbage bins 100m away), no levelling, no drainage (apart from the natural slope). NOTHING! It's not on my list of favourite free camps.
After bidding farewell to Tanks last Sunday we headed for Gin Gin, where we have a friend who introduced us to the NSW Greyhound rescue lady who provided Kelly & Megs.
From there it was a short hop to Moore Park Beach CP where we were booked for five nights. As it happened, friends from Melbourne who moved to WA in 1999 have recently moved to Moore Park Beach, so we had a surprisingly busy social life there.
Apart from our Gin Gin and MPB friends visiting, there were the compulsory visits to the Bundaberg soft drinks brewery and the Macadamia Nut Farm — at both of which we spent more than intended.
A night at Kumbia rest area (very small!) followed, and this morning we set off at 0725 and drove 635km in 7h45m … which included some wee breaks for the girls and a lunch break for us.
We swapped drivers every two hours, BTW, it wasn't a solo effort.
We don't normally do distances like that these days, but it was such an early start we just kept going until 1600 then looked for a likely stopping place. And it puts us one day closer to home.
Tomorrow's target s a little more modest: West Wyalong. I'm hoping to attend their Dawn Service on Tuesday.
Then it will be just a day's drive home.

Re: Well, ABOUT to be…
Ray, if you read this tonight, for future reference. About 15 km south of Coonabarabran there is a little free camp on the western side of the highway, called Hickeys Falls. It's only just off the hwy, so it can be a bit noisy, but it's kinda nice. Or check my favourite free camp anywhere,
Binnaway. Right on the river. Great little stop.
And it has facilities, hot shower $2, Power available too, for a small fee.
Enjoy your travels.
I will be at the Mulwala RSL dawn service.

Re: Well, ABOUT to be…
David,
Thanks for thinking of us.
We actually spent our first night in Girt at Hickeys Falls!
We got to West Wyalong too early to pull up for the night, as we were away from the Golf Club at sparrow-fart. So we kept on to the Ardlethan free camp (with $2 power) instead. Unfortunately Ardlethan wasn't holding an ANZAC Dawn Service, only a march at 11:00am, which would have made the run home a bit later than we were planning.
We've been kinda flat out since arriving home… unpacking, seven loads of washing (sheets & Doona covers included), and starting the Garden Reclamation Project. Five weeks away leaves plenty of time for weed invasion & grass-growing.
Plus the dead-heading of 160 roses…
Not to mention two consecutive days of medical appointments in Albury, which really blows a hole in your day's plans.
Today is a Rest Day 'cos it's been pi$$ing down all day.
