I've got to rant! The Bruce!

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Currently sitting in Lightening Ridge and I turned the UHF off about Toowoomba due the the inane and really really foul mouthed morons on it
Recent trip to Sydney and found none of that rubbish, wond er hwy this is so ?
Bruce has good and bad truckies on it, one nearly killed me on my Bundy trip, but now if they do the intimidation thing up the rear I just slam on the brakes (not too hard now) THEY ARE IN THE WRONG Works a treat usually.
reminds them of their obligations.
I also remind them (after I have had a gutful) that we also pay registrations etc and that the road is not the province of one particular group, but is used by all.
Then I usually turn the cb off as there is usually no reason with the 5%

Trouble with that William is that a lot of trucks carry crash cams as well and your brake lights would be shown to be on for no reason.
If by chance one hit you.
My son is a intestate driver and has crash cam.
Last visit here at Xmass he had over 2.7 Million Ks on the truck and never been involved in a accident.
I'm also x truckie owned our own company partners with my OLDER brother, he really is old . back in the 70's.

The good truckies are not the ones that pee people off just like the majority of car drivers are not the ones that pee the truckies off. How was those pearls of wisdom for this time of night? :)

Hi, all.

Might splash out and buy a two-way radio in the near future, for one purpose only. If there's a semi up close behind I'll call for his opinion re the best place for us to pull over. He knows the road, has a much better view and is probably stressed out by his employers and/or financial problems.

We did a four month trip a while ago and had only one truckie pass a little too close for comfort - the rest were fine.
See you on the back roads,

In all our travels (since 1st m/h in 1998) we have had a CB aboard.
We cruise between 90~100km/h with 'Jim' the toad on his trailer; 100km/h (even in 110km/h zones) when travelling without Jim & trailer.
When a truck approaches from the rear, we usually acknowledge his presence, and tell him we'd like to help him pass. Does he know somewhere up ahead where we could pull aside to let him through, or even a rest area/truck parking bay where we could get right off the road for him?
Usual response is courteous & sans foul language. Some will warn us of an upcoming widening of the road, others just grab a chance to overtake. These latter blokes will at least tell us 'I'm coming through now.'
We usually tell the truckies that we'll hold our current speed, and when they're out & clear, we'll slow down to minimise their exposure on the wrong side of the road.
They usually say Thanks after passing, and wish us a good day's travel.

The only time the air in Girt turns blue is approaching major cities & towns - where there are more ****ing delivery drivers. ;)
Regards & God bless,
Ray

If everyone adopted a courteous attitude we would all travel a lot safer on our roads. Trouble is there are arse holes in both camps. Trucks shouldn't have the need to speed anymore as they are continually being monitored by safety cams and point to point cameras. I know some take longer than necessary breaks and then have to make up for lost time. That's where a problem begins. I have followed caravaners and motor homes and they are oblivious to what's following. Some consideration for others would go a long way to make life easier.

Well we are heading along the Sturt Hwy heading towards Renmark and have been tailing a truck doing 75kph, must have a problem but not one word from his mates to get off the f,n road    I was so happy to be able to just tootle along behind and not get abused for going so slow  Still lots of dick head car drivers on the road though. Parked up in a good rest area well off the road (did a bit of a bush bash) so the truckies can have the rest area to them selves.. Rest are #150 (Camps 6) Yamba East rest area. Terrible Vic roads
