To save a domestic argument here and to save me climbing over boxes of stuff ready stored for our departure, how much power do electric blankets suck up. I freeze to death at 18*c and the bride wants to stop over in Camden (July in Camden is like the bloody south pole) so my ears pricked up with your comment about elect. blankets not using up much power. Can you give me some sort of idea if available.

A standard 3 heat position double bed electric blanket will run off a 125w modified sine wave inverter, both sides on full. Each side on full will draw 5 amps from a 12v battery while heating, those with a thermostat woven into the blanket will switch on and off once hot, those with electronic control vary the pulse width of the on cycle to maintain the selected temp setting, but these require a pure sine wave inverter due to the electronics involved in the clock timer. One side of an electric blanket on 1 will draw around 1 amp to 1.5 amps, that includes the inverter waste. This adds up to, both sides on 3 one hr before bed, 10Ah, one side on 1 for a further 8 hrs, 12 Ah, both sides on 1 for 8 hrs, 20Ah, the standby losses for the inverter are spread over both sides so the losses for 1 side of 4Ah is the same for both sides.
All up, 10Ah to get the bed warm, another 20Ah if both of you need it on all night, so between 10Ah and 30Ah all up.

I think that would be Eddie aka Wombat, it does look like version 1 of his choofer, it was modified by raising the inner section.... but still ready a cooking choofer rather than a heating choofer.

Now, I believe Kilcoy is in a similar area to Maleny, about 40kms or less as the crow flies, the grass snapped on the walk back to the vehicle in the evenings at the Maleny get togethers, so don't let the "Qld" tag fool you, it made Taggerty in the Vic highlands appear warm at night

T1 is correct, His name is Eddie. He had implemented some great ideas.

Kilcoy is close to Maleny but not as high. The days are beautiful at the moment and the nights will be a bit cold but that's what choofers are for aren't they?
I haven't been to Texas for about 25 years so what's it like Dot, you were there last year weren't you?

Near the town, is on flat ground near the river, dump point, can have fires. Apart from that I have no idea as we didn't need anything else while we were there. Someone must know somewhere out of the big smoke that is suitable.
