Hmm... I think this needs a more technical brain than mine to look at it, in the meantime I'll have a look for computer speakers that I've seen others using.

So, being a typical male I then got out the instructions for the radio. Struth... this must have been originally written in Hundu then cross dressed into Afghani before some Japanese persona had it transcribed into some long forgotten dialect which ultimately got dug up & rebooted into Swahilli. Either that or some smart arse technical boffin wrote it but left every 2nd word out & substituted them with hieroglyphics!!

So, just to decipher all of the above... I couldn't get the crappy ting to work - & - even the 18 old grandson had a look, pressed a few buttons then said... "Get an iPad!!" A pity really coz if it works the present speaker system would be fantastic.

I'm sure it's just the modern day technicality of it all that has me confused - it's sorta happening more often these days  so think I'll just pop out & try some computer speakers in the short term. :D
A photo of the leads/plugs, the earphone socket on the TV and the plug sockets on the radio, then we might be able to get you plugged up right, then a link to the operators manual for the radio so we can work out what order the buttons are pressed :D

Some info from my research. (you probably don't need to open it/them)
Here is the manual for his Kenwood unit.
http://manual.kenwood.com/files/4a56e2c146755.pdf
It quotes the AV cable as an extra. CA-C3AV part number.
Looks like this.
http://www.soundmaster.com.au/Kenwood-C ... ble/CAC3AV
The 'pinouts' look like this.
http://pinoutsguide.com/CarAudio/kenwoo ... nout.shtml
That's the stereo end.

The TV if standard just uses the normal stereo 3.5mm plug.
pinouts like this.
http://pinouts.ru/Home/Tele35s_pinout.shtml

So you need the '3' one in the TV & the '4' one in the Kenwood.
The two cables I referred to in a previous post should just 'hook together' and do the job.
Hoping he hasn't done any damage so far?
Not sure if some head phones worked or not?(on the TV)
One question I have. If that is a DIGITAL in socket on the Kenwood, is the signal out from the TV digital or analogue?

This is the other end of the Kenwood CAC3AV cable you need for the TV earphone socket, you don't need to connect the yellow lead http://search.jaycar.com.au/search?w=3. ... dio%20lead pick which one suits best.

The suppler for the Kenwood CAC3AV Adapter Cable - Soundmaster - have just advised that it is no longer available... even though it's still advertised on their website. Will have to search o/s for it.

Chuck did you try some earphones in the TV out earpiece socket?
If you've already done damage it may not be worth buying the cable anyway.
Any computer speakers will tell you as well.
Try that first. I know you said at one stage you were "off to find some" but I never heard the results?

Yeah Boss,

The TV socket worked... with a bit of fiddling using a set of ear pieces found in the granddaughters bedroom - :? - The fiddling involved wiggling a bit after insertion & when I got connection it did cut the sound from the TV so that's working ok. Tried for the computer speakers in a number of outlets but none available without buying the 240v power source as well!

A couple of US sites have the Kenwood cable for around $25 plus freight in the vicinity of $30... considering.
