s far as the fruit thieves, do rats eat fruit? Something ate all the developing fruit this yr so nothing to even get to rip stage. They even ate all the loquats and last yr the tree was full of them, then suddenly none. This yr they all appeared and then vanished while we were away.

Our apples were stripped clean over a week at taggerty once. Must have been birds. Just spotless. I actually thought they had been picked.

Ummm...... the ball point pen was copied by the yanks. The radio was copied by Marconi even though it was patented in the US by Tesla, the lithium battery was patented by the petroleum companies that bought the rights and was copied/improved by some Chinese companies .... the list goes on and on. The cost of an international patent and the legal people to formulate it and implement it makes the whole process almost prohibitive. The cost of prosecuting a break of patent will just about always be on the patent holder because the company illegally using the patent is a shelf company with zero assets.
The only way to protect a product from copying is to give it to a big Chinese manufacturer with full govt backing and ask for a royalty in exchange for regular improvements as payment. The Chinese don't mess around with the court process, they use their own version of rule 303 and if it is Chinese citizen the family must pay for the bullet. A rough tough world but one that does work, the court system is just a nonsense designed to fill the pockets of those within the system.

A few years ago the yanks had a patent on a machine, I was their agent.
I then took a patent out locally as a big stick to prevent any locals copying.
From memory the cost was not too bad, between 5-10 grand ..the profit on one machine.

Worked for me, I thought there was something unique that a local bussiness were copying from another local business.
