actually jenny the frame and chassie are not too bad, need sand blasting but nothing major, all panels are only surface and one door has a bit of rust but one again a new panel and its good again. all panels are pop riveted so if they need to be replaced its an easy job.

Hi Anne Marie, our bus has riveted panels on it too, the big surprise might be when you take them off. Hopefully the frame work inside will not be rusted out. When we had our bus in to have the new engine in, the guy that was there used to have to service the same sorts of buses when he was younger. He said that they can build up moisture and condensation inside between the inner and outer skins and that can cause the frameworks to rust. Hopefully yours will just need a bit of a coat of rust inhibitor. Havent had our panels off yet, but hopefully we will be able to do it in the not to distant future, once we have a nice high shed to store the old girl in whilst it is being done.

It will look a treat once its all done Anne Marie. Nice project :D

We found some big surprises in Big Bus when we took the sides off the first time, more what wasn't tere than what we found in there. But it was all RHS tubing so easy enough to cut the old stuff out and mig weld new stuff in.

Most of the LD5 vans didn't have an internal skin, so quite easy to see any rust.
