Hi, all.
dapope - the spare Projecta charger was sold a month ago, although we still have a bench charger and an evilbay 20amp unit. Were you after the Projecta charger?

Re: Inverter giving grief
Am looking for a replacement for my W7 . The charger side has died. The inverter side is OK, but the 15 amp jaycar special I have is a bit underdone for doing 400 ah, although it is getting there. We are parked up in Karratha, and the dam caravan jail has too many shade trees, so the panels need a help out, and given that the weather has gone a bit dog like and it even rained yesterday, we are a bit down in the batteries as in 25% SOC this morning. I could have run the motor, but thought it was probably a bit of overkill.
The evilbay unit is probably a bit undersized..no rush though, I will keep looking..
I may replace the whole unit yet,

Re: Inverter giving grief
Is the W7 that you own a 40A or 70A charger?
I have an 8 year old Xantrex 70A that this is a knock off
The Genny supplies 70ah at about 8ah on the Genny , about 70 ah off the Alternator, and I now get 60ah off the Solar...soon to be 80

Don't toss the W7 unit out, I want to see what it is that is failing in them so I can beef them up. They are great units but they do need the fan reversed in the casing to allow proper cooling if the full 70 amps output is used

Re: Inverter giving grief
Great news for you, not so great for me
I have a few here that have just "died" and I have been wondering about the connection clean might bring them back to life so well worth a try it seems. Electricity at industrial rates in Mannum is unbelievably expensive, $300 mth just for lights
so some rewiring and changes in the lighting combined with a big battery pack and a few of these inverters may be a good investment.

Re: Inverter giving grief
Margaret will have the Mazda over here and big bus doesn't have an electrical system at all yet, so among the many jobs still to do where time allows it is a priority now as that will be home for the foreseeable future. I will probably run a 48v system in the big bus so I can use the PIP inverters and link them. The 48v battery packs will be in parallel for charging and series for hybrid electric drive, 8 banks to give a 400w supply to the VFD for the electric drive motor/s. VFD's are just big time inverters that alter frequency, current and voltage as required and output 3 phase AC power.PeterM wrote:T1, plug in the bus.

So stop sitting at the computer and bloody well do it. That poor bus, fancy having your guts slashed open for all these years waiting for the surgeon to do the job so you can be sewn up again to then get on with doing what you were intended for. (men) !!
