starter motor, start system, brake pressure senders, dash wiring, airbag controll, all bus lights, horn, switches (probly OK the switches) relays -all designed for 24v - you dont want to swap without a lot of consideration............

I am with you on this one Wayne, I have taken the opposite approach, and have a seperate 12v bank for the stuff I could not get in 24 v.
I now have no problem running my 2 x 24 volt systems (LA cranks and 800 ah liths) and would have to upgrade some already heavy cabling to use 12 V.

I run 24V starter etc and 24V house. Anything 12V I run via a 24-12V converter. I am still in the dark ages though with open lead acid all around.

My bus is 24v/lead acid start, 12v/240v/lifepo4 house and 12v/240/ gel A/C. Led lights make the difference, they tend not to be to worried about long wire runs like incandescent and others do.

Yep... boat!
To be honest Jon, I still haven't tackled that job yet. Stashed in the storage shed waiting for energy!!
The welder one is being used extensively I believe!

All my 12 volt wiring is 12 volt, interesting now with a little information, I can't understand why 24 volt house system that runs all house stuff that is 12/24, all the lighting is 12 volt run off convertors.

I think the main wiring to be concerned about is from panels to convertor to batteries and invertor.
Cheers

Every DIY conversion or system I've seen is different in some way. Whatever makes you feel comfortable, it works when you need it and you are happy with what it gives you. As well as being safe, everything else is personal preference. If you build the system, then you know how to fix it and you see some cool things you've never thought of or seen in operation at times.

I"d agree wiring in the charge and discharge ends of a low voltage system needs the adequate wiring to get the best out of it, including connections.
