Gee it didn't take you long to pop the pistons out!
Do the big ends have stamps on 'em? 1-6 etc?
Better pinch some more of Carol's chuck wipes to wrap the crank journals!! (keep the bullfrogs out of the oil holes!)
Be interesting to hear the mechanic mates opinion & how many thou between ring ends in the bore.

Look like a lot of oil has come in through the inlet valves, was there a lot of oil in the intake manifold? Is that the intake ports that are facing up in the photo of the head? Any scores in the bore? It looks almost mirror finished so maybe the bore is just glazed from the over fueling allowing the compression to escape into the sump. Pop the valve springs off and check the guides for wear and if they are ok then fit new valve stem seals. Are the rings loose on the pistons, can you turn them around on the pistons easily? Is there much movement of the ring up and down in the ring grooves, particularly the top ring. All these things will contribute to high oil consumption, add a number of them together and you have trouble keeping the oil up them they chew that much

Those are the exhaust outlets Terry on the head, I have been told that the liners are chrome and there is no cross hatching on any of the bores.
We think they are Taiwanese rings not from Isuzu I'm waiting on price for same. From going over all the history paper work that came with the bus it has only travelled a bit19,000 kilometres since the engine rebuild including the odometer at this present time. Mate thought there was not enough tension on the rings the oil ring especially
My old mate came over for a sticky ( he's a RACQ mechanic retired) and has also suggested that the bearing on the big ends look as tho they were installed dry wear not thru to the brass but wear anyway.
So will have the head addressed and go from there when I have all the needed parts.
We both think that the heads are the major problem I'm going to borrow his valve spring remover and have a closer look.
Bernie.
