End of our travellling

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

The one I was thinking of was done by Danny Webb when he did the news at channel 7 if my memory hasn't totally failed. Something about a spaghetti tree growing in Carlton or Brunswick, which back then had a pretty solid ethnic community.

It's on YouTube but I can't get the link to work.

OK, so I was out by about 3yrs. 🤗
Missed the Danny Webb one. Maybe before I moved to Melbourne (1974)?
I worked for 3XY, so Ch7’s news team was The Enemy. :P
We were always trying to get the drop on other newsrooms, as 3XY was a rock music station, and no-one took our news team seriously. I did manage to be the only journalist to get a sound grab from Gough Whitlam at his Melbourne CBD rally for the post-Dismissal election. :D
I was cheeky enough to side-step his flying wedge of plainclothes police protection & walk beside him for a few yards (with a live mike) before his police detail realised what happened. I think most of their attention was concentrated on a group of noisy demonstrators hurling insults & waving anti-Labor placards.
Fraser’s protection team was a lot tougher… maybe because he was the target of more vociferous demonstrators…

Ray, well before you got there I think. Maybe mid 60's. I was just a kid and thought it was true 'til the old girl reminded me it was April Fools day.

Sounds like Danny Webb might have ‘drawn inspiration’ from the BBC stunt of 1957, maybe thinking people would have forgotten the original…
😜🤔😀😁

I'm sure that was the case. More likely just outright stole the story.
