Who ever had that as the bet, they've done their doe ;)

We is still in the yard at Mannum. NRMA is stuffing us around regarding the house insurance payout. The demolition crew they used must be a subsidiary company of their or something, because they drove an excavator over the back patio pavers, even though they were told not to, crushed the grey/black water holding tank, broke the blocks in the retaining wall when I'm guessing they backed into it, wrecked the TV antenna mast that I was going to use for a vertical wind turbine, ripped out the cat cage they weren't supposed to touch and part of the back fence at the same time, and took out two tanks that were supposed to stay.
We filed a complaint with both the contractors and NRMA, we received an email 4 weeks later with NRMA claiming and inspector had been at the property and confirmed there was no signs of an excavator ever having been on the pavers ..... I ran the person handling the claim and she said she would arrange for the inspector to meet me at the property so I could show them the obvious excavator track marks and the damage they'd done ..... 2 weeks, nothing, ring again, tell the claims rep that the evidence is clear in the photos ..... what photos .... the ones I sent to the contractors and CC'd NRMA in .... never got those, they aren't on the file, I'll send you an email address so they come straight to me so I can make certain they go on the file ..... a week passes, no email.

Rang this morning, your claims rep works out of Perth the claims person says and they have a public holiday today .... starting sound like even more B/S so I unload on the woman on the phone at NRMA, not nasty, but telling her I think this is all just delaying tactics, photos sent to the contractors and cc'd to NRMA but somehow not on the file ...... she gives me an email address and tells me the only thing to go in the subject file is the claim number or the email will simply go into the ether ..... more B/S but that email has been sent and I'll be ringing first thing in the morning ...... if my claims rep can be connected on the phone, I'll know it was all B/S because it would be 7am in Perth, not 9am ......

We can't let it drag on until we return, that would push it past the 12 mths and the whole claim changes from insured value to NRMA's estimated value ...... I'm guessing this is the game they are playing, so either it gets sorted this week, or we put in a case to the Insurance Ombudsman's hands and I believe that locks out the 12 mth clause thing .......

There are so many times they have outright lied about what is happening, then had to back track, it is the motor vehicle accident claim all over again and my head couldn't handle a repeat of that .......

Terry, RACQ has done a very similar thing to our neighbours regarding a storm damage water ingress claim. Blah blah, short story is the insurance and contracted repairers stuffed them about so bad that after the storm they called a cyclone on GC back in March things were so bad house was unlivable. Only way they could move forward was to put it all to insurance ombudsman. Way back just after the fire, I recall someone putting up the details of who to contact when it all turns to s..t for you.
I think it's time. You and Marg shouldn't have to put up with this.
Cheers

Would you believe the claims rep is off sick today, it never ends. The lady on the phone least confirmed the photos arrive and are on file and she is passing them through to the assessor, the email dated 21st May said the assessor had already viewed them and claimed the damage wasn't the result of the excavator and the contractors claim they didn't drive over the area and the assessor confirmed this ...... 2 weeks later the assessor is now going to see the photo for supposedly the first time ...... they have all this on file and they can't even keep the lies consistent .....
The assessor is supposed to ring me today, no phone call and tomorrow it's the Ombudsman .... enough is enough .....

Over due for you to be getting the TV Current affairs on the case as well as your MP and the ombudsman, go for the balls old boy. (make sure with the tv mob you ask for an investigative journalist.)

Looks good on TV, but that isn't really how it works. If we did go that route, we would be waiting at least a mth before a mob like that got themselves organised enough to actually come and do the story. It always appears they fronted the offending party after they had filmed and produced the episode, but in real life, they contact the other party first to confirm just what is going on so they can put the whole lot before their legal people to make sure they can't be sued .... so a mth to 6 weeks we would have to hang around ..... that isn't gunna happen.
I will be getting in contact with the ombudsman tomorrow, but that is never a quick thing either ..... I simply do not trust NRMA to not try and screw us again .....
