Arrived in Dampier today under cloudy skies after 4 days at Cleaverville, there was a stiff breeze on all days which kept the sand flies away, I have only a few bites thankfully. The Dampier transit park is $28 a night with a max stay of 3 nights, CPs in Karratha are fully booked at $49 to $52 a night for a powered site. May go back to Cleaverville to wait till the roads are open to Millstream after which we will move on to Karijini NP.
The road into 40 mile campground is closed today due to rain and it has started raining now as I type, roads around Onslo and Monkey Mia are closed due to rain with the coastal hwy under threat of closure.

Sounds like up there is as wet as it is down here but now as ball bitingly cold. Need pics of the Karijini NP please, we missed going there when we were at 40mile. Cleaverville is apparently known for the sand flies. Stay safe.

In Paraburdoo tonight, should be warmer than Karijini, 2.8 deg C outside van this morning in shade, the gas heater is great.
Lots of people in Karijini, the campground was full every night as was the overflow area, we set up on the parking area adjacent to the airstrip and were the only ones there last night, helps being self contained.
Dot if you send your email details by messenger I will send some photos or wait till we drop in if you are home sometime in October.

Arrived back in Carnarvon today after spending 4 nights at Quobba Point camping with a day going up the coast to Red Bluff camping on Quobba Stn, station camping costs $15 per person for one facility ie long drop sunny, where we paid $8 ea a night, seniors rate, at the shire camping area, must have a chemical toilet at this location although some camped near the long drop toilet who did not have a chemical toilet, these toilets are supposedly only for day visitor use.
We have seen regularly that a group or type of camper try all means possible to not pay a camping fee, we observed in Exmouth a guy paying at the info centre for 4 campers to stay in a CP after he had been caught and the woman in the info centre told him that she had seen them camping illegally.
The shire has notices up that vehicles and goods will be consificated if caught.
Heading towards Denham and Monkey Mia tomorrow.

I thought they were going to close Quabba or was that just the shacks so they can put big condo's up?? Yep there are all sorts of anal sphincters all over the place that make it hard for the good ones. Remember we have a few forum members that live at Geraldton so go pay a visit they are all ok people, you shall also get to see a fantastic bus conversion happening. hey toolman?

There is talk of the council demolishing some of the derelict shacks, there is some rubbish there, and some are still used.
We have not had any invitations to call on any forum members over here, perhaps they do not read this section of the forum, when ever I am online my username is the only one showing down the bottom.
Done the Monkey Mia tourist thing, not to my liking with contrived banter and history about feeding the Dolphins, take this away and the local economy would collapse.
We preferred our trip up to Cape Peron in Francois Peron NP, great scenery with plenty of bird and sea life to observe.
Leaving for Kalbarri tomorrow
