This is probably a bit late for you Dot, but it may help others who are thinking of getting into a diesel heater. A friend moored in our bay today. Boarded their boat and was amazed at how warm it was inside, they had a Dickinson antarctica diesel heater and in their boat it was 25deg.
Uses about 5lt-24hrs on low, can also heat your water, runs on diesel, kero, used veggie oil and stove oil. I thought the smell was from his auxiliary engine, he has 100lt of used oil for it and tops up in just about everywhere they go ashore.
