Yes Tanks, watching a kiln cycle through is riveting stuff.Amazing how fast the boredom sinks in.
David, here is his lordships fix. I called in his help when I couldn't get the plastic sleeve off the power plug. He took one look at my stacks of kiln furniture that kept the plug in place and built me a wooden contraption.

To save anyone looking at that and going WT? The yellow lead is from the thermocouple, the top lead goes to the controller and the orange lead is the dodgy power lead, that seems to wriggle out of the socket when under stress. So far so good.
In the kiln is a piece of art that depends on a couple of things being in the right place. Of course, somehow those bits slipped in the heat and now the piece is back in with more pieces added to try to get the right look. Tomorrow will tell.
I didn't stay doing kiln constant watch. I went upstairs and cooked some roast chooken and veggies, with all the trimmings. Better than watching paint dry.
