Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
ahh. Tinnies instead of stubbies below the kiln. Something to look out for. (who's a cheek chimp?
)
Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Tinnies travel better than stubbies Jon.
Cool quicker, don't brake when dropped.
bUT...I drink from a pewter when home
Will put pic up tomorrow... unless I forget.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Nasty nasty day it twas, some heavy heavy rain and nearly had to pull off the road as vision was starting to get low, couldn't believe people were driving with no lights on ( must be some of tin hatters)
Gman had a biopsy done of the thing behind his ear plus the dr noticed a lump on G's finger ( a ganglion) and so an appointment with the hand man for removal was made.
Blimey never fails hey? Do any of you lovely people know what type of potting type / soil should be used for Hoya's? Time for a long hot bath then bed so Goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, I think we used a mix of good potting mix and cactus mix, to give it some extra free drainage and food at the same time. Others may have better suggestions tho. Stay out of the rain xxxx
Please do not collect glass bottles of any kind and use me as an excuse. I have a ton of beer, wine and spirit bottles, all waiting for inspiration to come. I even have a huge Bohemian crystal vase that is broken and I am trying to work out how to repurpose this one too. The base is so thick that it will need some hammer therapy time before any action can happen. So I am leaving it for a day when I need therapy, that's most days these days.
In the kiln tonight is some experimental jewellery hearts. I read about making them, so decided to give it a try. Tomorrow we will see.
The picture that I am working on, still have patches where the glass has moved in firing. So it has had more tiny bits added today, just to give it some character and tomorrow, it gets another warm up. I am making this piece for my garden, so it has to just right. I wont be happy looking at it if it isn't right.
Six drops of rain tonight and a glorious light show across the lake. Apparently, we expect to have a lot more tomorrow, with the usual winds and frozen temps as well...oh goody.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
I would rather be in f**kbook jail than covid jail Dot. You sharing our frozen weather too. We are so generous
xxxx
Due to snow/blizzard/cyclone conditions in the lair, we declared today a non event. We both stayed inside and near the gas fire for the whole day. Hence no kiln report tonight.
Our son has told us that his company (in Western Sydney) has had a person with a positive result, on staff. Company did the right thing, sent everyone home, demanded all get testing and only return when proof of negative result. Son considered he was a close enough contact to stay at home (and work from home) for the 2 weeks, with good test results he is ok. But he tells us, that the lady tested positive 10 days before NSW health contacted him. Obviously they are a bit busy at the moment, but 10 days is just not acceptable. He sat at the same desk as the lady, so used his common sense and did the right thing anyway. He made the whole family get tested and they are doing it again this week just to be sure. Too many eejits around that never were introduced to common sense.
Did you see the church in Blacktown that had a pastor preaching that they are above lockdowns?...they got hit with some massive fines. People like him should be locked up for the safety of the rest of the community. They are Sudanese and all ten feet tall (they look it from down here), so they probably are too high up to catch covid. That doesn't really explain how they can be preaching to disobey the laws of the land and to show obvious ignorance of those around them.
It's too cold to be up here tonight

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Another cold day but there was some sunshine and I potted up some pansies (flowers)
and G turned over the old mulch so the rain could really get into the crappy soil before new mulch gets put down. Hope your son is ok Deborah, he did the right thing for sure. Heard from HTFFBO today, she said they had their air con on (cool setting) and ours was on 20 deg heating, she said they are getting their 2nd jab tomorrow then heading towards SA, but the way things are going who knows what will be open. We are off to the chiro tomorrow, and G has appointment for the orthopod to check his ganglion in 2 weeks . Now awaiting the results of the biopsy he had taken Monday then depending on results who knows? Hope your kiln is doing a good job Deborah. Bed time so goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, our son rang tonight with even better news. He was on a wait list to get vaccinated. The soonest was 26th September. We were concerned about that. His GP rang him today, he had heard about the workplace event and offered injections to the whole family today. So they have at least had the first dose. We are both happier to hear that and he will get his second dose before he was meant to get his original first. He couldn't claim any help before because he lives across the highway from the Penrith red zone. Amazing how the virus knows not to cross the road! Stay safe mate and enjoy the chiro and the laughs xxxx
Today the weather was a bit more conducive to go wander down to my shed. The results of the firing have made me smile. The tiny dots all started out as scrappy bits, mostly squares. Once they get really hot (780 degrees C) they curl up and become tiny balls. Very useful for decorating things. The hearts came up well. I wont make any more until I see if they sell
. I think I will be trying to make some a little bit bigger to make suncatchers.
Looks best if you blow it up to full size.
Getting chilly here, so night all xxx

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Deb,
They are amazing!!
Looks like you have opal inclusions.
I reckon you should advertise them online as Christmas and/or Valentines Day gifts. (A new batch in January?)
Postage shouldn’t be outrageously expensive, a padded B5 or C3(?) envelope would probably do…

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
While we're at it Deb ......
Would it be possible to create some red & some green little discs. Flat on the bottom but can be a bit domed on the top. Circular (read round) about 16mm in diam?
We have a lot of taps on the boat with hot & cold indicators in a pale colour & "hot" & "cold" written on them in gold.
Anyone with glasses or over 30 can't really read them.
OK the hand basin is the default left = hot but the shower is vertical. (one above the other)
I'm sure there would be a ready market for them!!
