Where Are You Now??

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Left hand rear wheel seal leaking, this is the second time its leaked after fitting new seals.
While here having everthing checked, I fitted new tie rod ends this afternoon was lucky they had them on the shelf, also new centre bearings on the tailshaft, replaced one last time, should have done the three.
Excellent customer service, I put on their overalls and looked like one of the workers.

You got those overalls dirt Geoff. The oil seal leaking after fitting is often due to te spring coming out of the seal while fitting the hub back on the axle. The easiest fix is to pack the iside of the seal with petroleum jelly before fitting it, this holds the spring in place and the petroleum jelly melts after a few kms and adds to the grease to keep it moving.
See , petroleum jelly has other uses as well, it's not just for the door knob to keep the kids out

Hi Terry

There was nothing wrong with the seal or where it was running on the axle, have now fitted a Stemco type seal, it's actually a Mack truck front seal.
