Bernie.
I tried, "heavy vehicle licence requires a new photo" I was told by the person on the phone at Service NSW. On line, there was a method I could apply for a licence renewal while interstate, it would take 10 weeks from the time they received the application, in the post, and would remain on a temporary basis until I returned to NSW for my photo to be taken .....

As I said in a previous post, every state has its own rules and how the enforce them, this was just Service NSW method

Thats right Bernie, you can. But not if it requires a new photo to be taken. No photo req'd = do it online. Or pay at post office.

Just thinking outside the box, so to speak. Terry, why don't you do the hybrid conversion from Lexus to Mercedes. Get all the electronics and inverter control sorted, then if your body is still up to it, flop it all into the Winny. At least, that way, you would still have a mobile house on wheels that is still functional.
On another note, I see the latest Supercheap ad's on the TV up here are showing that they do a hydraulic hose repair service now.
Maybe they could whack up the req'd gas line for you. That would surely assist in keeping the running costs down.
Cheers

I haven't seen to many gas stations on my trip. The gad idea might just be a non viable white elephant now.

Maybe ok 17 years ago when Rustic was being built....

I have the reuseable type gas fittings, so it's just the hose required, and the gas tanks out and down to Adelaide to be inspected and restamped for another 10 yrs.
With the gas running again, at least the range will be around the 1,000km mark per refuel, 500km extension to that with a tank of petrol if no LPG can be found, I'm sure I'll find somewhere over a 1,500km range that will have LPG in some form or another. I could even refill from one of those trucks that do the rounds to fill the big gas tanks at caravan parks and building that use LPG for cooking and/or heating.

When I do the Lexus to what ever vehicle swap, I'll build the whole V6 and L110 transmission with the inverter modified using the Zombie inverter board, make the whole thing run, then decide which vehicle to put it in. It would be a lot of work to make up all the wiring harnesses to suit the Mercedes, only to chop them up again and fit it all in the Winnie, then all the engine and transmission mounts, driveshaft adapters and maybe even the 4 sp auto in the Winnie added into the driveline, after the L110 transmission ......

The house will probably be built before that happens ..... who knows what tomorrow brings 8-)

Excuse me, try 27 yrs ago the Rustic Inn Perfection build started  LPG was less than 25% of the price of petrol back then, with all the fed govt excise and state taxes and gst added, it's now around 60% to 75% the price .....

Todays fun exercise, reverse engineer a set of auto folding steps into a Jenga puzzle
Reverse engineered steps.jpg
I managed to twist the steps rather severely when they didn't retract when the door was closed (mix up with the switch position) while trying to negotiate between the mud holes leaving the Hay free camp area .... I knew I'd cut it very close between two trees, would have made it if the steps had been in ....

Not only did I bend the steel arms, I twisted the rod that actuates the whole assembly .... spent the day trying to twist the rod back into the correct orientation using the Ford tow ball as the anchor and a ratchet strap doubled up to give better adjusting pressure/ winching power.

The rain clouds came over, so play was abandoned, Margaret returned from Murray Bridge with suitable bolts I can use in place of the rivets that normally hold it all together, maybe play will resume tomorrow with arm straightening and reassembly
