Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dot, sleeping early tonight mate?  xxxx

Had a day for repairs. The small Christmas wreath decorations that I fired, have had a couple of failures and then I dropped a good one on the carpet and it too broke. Back to the drawing board and another layer of clear glass has been added to all of them and they are waiting their turn in the kiln.

As we live in ducktopia, it was not a total surprise to find a mother duck under the lime tree with about a dozen ducklings. We have been trying to discourage this pair of ducks, for most of spring. But now that they have their brood, the problems begin. We have a fence between the yard and the lake, which no duckling will be able to get under. We are also concerned about not squashing them when we move our cars in and out as well as the mess they make crapping all over the yard. If she brings the family out, when I am about, I will take pics. I am not expecting to see her very much after the way I have tried to shoo her out so often. Oh well, live and let live.

night all xxx
Deborah

Deborah in ducksville get the rspca to come and get the family.. I did absolutely nothing today apart from fold washing and put it away. Lazy bugger  Lemon tree now void of lemons, and will be giving the tree a good hair cut. Might even try to get some pressure cleaning done tomorrow but it is a very tiring job, might take a week to complete. :D The yearly little corella mobs are starting to arrive in the area much to some people of the towns disgust, suck it up you lot  They have been coming here for hundreds of years before the "invaders"  Off to bed now, stay safe everyone. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Robert not Bob and Molly x :D

Deborah to many ducks in our area, to many people feeding them, the ducklings are cute & lovely to see but what a mess they leave in your garden, I too chase them out, my neighbors have had problems with them getting in their pools, l have water troughs in the garden for the native birds & unfortunately the ducks come to use them too.
I have a rainbow lorikeet that's learning to fly in the garden at present, blown out of the nest last week, the mother visits it each day & it finds hiding spots at night. :D
Dot don't think that RSPCA would collect the ducks from lakeside & Wires only deal with native species.

That is the worst thing about keeping ducks. They always tend to congregate around the back door. It ok if they are in a pen though, but you need to keep a wing clipped.

Dear Deborah,

This is Mama-duck. I'm writing to you as equals. Well, maybe not quite. After all, you're a grandma mama duck and I'm just beginning. You're lawn and lime tree are just delicious. Some where to rest and let my little fellows learn all they have too. You've got a wonderful reputation on the lake. All my friends said to stay here. "Grandma-mama", they said "is the best. If she really likes you, she show by practising shoeing away the foxes. She'll show you how good she is, practicing everyday when every you're there" And you know what, they're right. So gentle, walking around with your cute little wings out. Goodness knows how you can fly with those little wings, and no feathers too!

One thing that does puzzle me and the other mama-ducks is how you can fly using that great bit box thing. Some how you get in and fly to another spot. But do be careful. When you fly with your wings, you're in the air. Falling down to the ground is so rare. That is unless you hear the "bang". We don't know what that is, But, becareful off it. Bang and then you fall to the ground. Luckily there always seems to be a big dog near by ready to help. He runs into the water to gently take us to your friends. They wave around too. Some have a give stick to shoo away the foxes. What are the chances of that? I always tell my friends that if I hear the bang, I'm going to steer towards the dog. Don't want to crash to the ground with out any rescue team near by.

So back to your flying. Could you please be very very careful when flying backwards? My little ones can wander. We're very luck most flying humans stop for the littlies. It's funny how the all queue up waiting. A bit like when we go for walks to. One behind the other.

As I said, my friends say I'm lucky living at Grandma mama. So, I'm going to pay my way. I, the littlies and dadadauck are going to fertilize your lawn for you. And, we'll make a special effort on the really really hard patch where the lawn doesn't grow.. You know, that spot where the flying box is. And we'll help in the pool to make the reeds grow. OK. better go. Need to help the littlies stretch their wings. If you want, why not come and practice with us?.. It will be fun. Bit like a game of chasey. But you never catch us.

Better go now. Oh, and remember, be careful when flying backwards.

 Very good Jon D. We have a lot of young ducklings on the river at the moment, along with a number of young swans. The duck weed has been pushed up river by the wind to the bay in front of our place on Purnong road. Great entertainment watching the whole group of them paddle past each morning and evening .... they are doing ok as far as keeping the duck weed under some sort of control and I get down there with the steel rack on the weekends I'm not working and drag all I can reach up on the bank in an attempt to build a path above the ever rising water level .....

It's the poo kickers and river chooks that crap on my solar panels, the buggers, it wouldn't worry me if they's clean up after themselves, but they never do .....

I'm a bit worried that Jd has been in lockdown far too long and now he thinks he is a duck. Hopefully he will get out and hit the golf course this weekend.
