So many ideas. So, just make the hybrid rear engine.
Why do I have think up all the answers?

Guess you could just go like mine? Like an old Franklin van.stop, get out, walk around & pull out the step without jamming your finger ... open the door & step in? Lol

The "get out" part is where we require the step, there is only one entry/exit door on the Winnie, so the "get out" part is a big step without the auto fold out steps to fill in the 1 mtr drop

Heres the link.
Brand New Kwikee Series 32 Double Electric Entry Step Assembly - RVs, Motorhomes | eBay Australia https://share.google/ol9JgbNeWTLerGRix
And here's the Web pages. It's bit more exxy than those ones you linked. But this is plug and play. No re-engineering involved
At least if you bought them you wouldn't have to worry about the tailshaft. But I do like Jon's rear engine idea. Well maybe a mid mount. Wouldn't need a centre bearing or a real long tailshaft.
And you could have that whole massive engine bay where that V10 Ford Triton engine currently resides as battery storage.
Win win I reckon.

All the wonderful ideas from those that would / could / should get it done I can't help wondering if the door was removed and one of those executive jet doorways fitted. you know? Like the door becomes the steps with handrail included.

I seriously thought about one of those for Rustic Inn Perfection, but it was pointed out to me, you need the wings out the sides to ensure you have enough room up the sides to open the doorBruceS wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 5:55 pm All the wonderful ideas from those that would / could / should get it done I can't help wondering if the door was removed and one of those executive jet doorways fitted. you know? Stories from someone who actually did build one ....getting stuck because the door hit the shop awning in a small town, catching trees in free camps, being parked in by a car pulling up beside them in a car park .... so close they couldn't get out so the wife could give clearance directions on the walkie talkie so he could back out .... had to wait for the bloke with the car to return so they could open the door .... it made the awning impossible to be out if you wanted to close the door ..... plus a flyscreen door was an impossibility ..... but it looked great at the Tassie Rally
