Off the compressor gear Bruce which is run off a idler gear from the crank shaft. And the compressor gear has to come off if removed from the injector side.... But as I said if I can get the cam gear off I can remove it forward still attached to the front backing plate...

Bernie, If you find the right size socket and a big breaker bar you can usually crack the bolt off by setting it up almost touching the chassis rail then giving it a spin with the starter motor. Just make sure that the fuel shut off is active. It will save you driving it off the stands. You will need an assistant that knows what is likely to happen.
Cheers

Bernie,
Looking at the manual, I think the compressor comes out backwards.

Re: Bernie and Carols Isuzu fit out.
I haven't seen the manual but it looks similar to the raw water pump on my Perkins.
Gear driven off the camshaft & it just pulls out after undoing a couple of bolts.
Jon does the injector pump drive off the back of the compressor?

Re: Bernie and Carols Isuzu fit out.
Ahh I didn't see those pages.
Why do you need to remove the crankshaft nut?
If you set it to TDC, won't there be timing marks on the fuel pump to align everything?

Re: Bernie and Carols Isuzu fit out.
To remover the front engine cover the bolts for the compressor are inside the cover bar two which I think are to do with the taco stuff .
The crank gear is inside as well Jon so timing marks are there ..

Bernie
do you page page 6A-113 and 114?
I shows how to align the pump to the crank.
The font cover does not need to come off.
