Roberts Travels

Post by RobertNotBob »

Packed the van and ute yesterday in readiness for our trip north. Heading to Alstonville just inland from Ballina, NSW.

Camp oven gathering on again so heading for a great weekend of cooking and friendship.

Up this morning and the last minute additions to the already full van and ute. As one would expect it was raining and as I proceeded to hitch up it became heavier. Finally all in key turned and off we go, no set plans but a quick trip north and a couple of days exploring the local Alstonville area.

Headed up the Malley but wanted a bit different rd so headed to Moulamein, NSW and a night in the van park. $15 a night per person with power, water and amenities block also 10% discount on a seniors card.

Old park but clean amenities and no rubbish around, first van park we have been in no pads but Drive through site and it is cold outside. Will decide tomorrows route once we refuel at Hay.

Point of interest is that the camp oven gathering was our first stop on our move to Adelaide last year.

Take care Robert and Molly

I remember Alstonville being nothing much more than the peanut factory on the Lismore/Ballina link road. Went there about 10 yrs ago and the place was huge. I think we went to check out a motorhome conversion place up there looking for bits ... so it might have been longer than 10yrs ago
Enjoy your travels and post up photos if possible 8-)
