Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Oh the air conditioner in the bus must be trying to encourage you to escape Dot. Hope the temp is nowhere near what they are suggesting. xxxx

Terry, have you ever asked for double glazed windows? Our local window companies have a hernia when asked. Nobody wants to deal with em, even though they are apparently far superior. Too heavy for their subbies to lift, seems to be the truth of the issue. So they just quadruple the price and tell you that the gain is not worth the price. We had some sort of climate glass that alledegly kept the warm and cold out...piffle and not worth the extra money that we paid for the enviro glass.

Today was another frustration day. I tried (and finally succeeded) to make the calendar for next year. The computer and phone refused to co-operate, so I could only gleen a few pics from there. The new computer with win 10 has shuffled all my photos all over the place and somehow, I have pics on there that I didn't take, but ones that I did take have disappeared. I cobbled together some family photos, but really was disappointed with the files. Think I may have to return to only using a camera for photos. PITA

I do need some ungrumpy sleep now, so night all xxx

Doggie sat today and did a bit of nothing as well. :) Lots of watering done this evening ready for the onslaught of the heat due tomorrow. Tried to melt some plastic buttons in the oven BUT all I did was stink to high heaven , smoke that could kill a whale and 99% of the so called plastic buttons didn't melt. All windows doors and the ceiling fans on to clear the stink and smoke out. So much for plastic that ain't plastic.  Time for bed so goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Bobr x :D . Re window frames, my sister had all the house windows replaced with wooden frames and double glazing and said she can notice the difference with both the heating and cooling and esp the power bills :)

Yep - , heard the stories re the cold/heat on the metal framed windows...

The installers guarantee that with the new glass they use - thicker than normal & has an additive in the manufacturing - along with the tinting in the lower section that alone will help to keep the cold/heat out. Nearly all windows are floor to ceiling in most rooms.

Also, the frames will still be sitting inside the original wooden frame. Hmm, that doesn't sound quite correct...the wooden frame around the windows/doors that the current windows sit in will still be there for the metal frames to be fitted too. The metal frames will not be fitted directly to the brick opening. That make it clearer?

The opening windows will not be sliding like we originally thought of but 'wind out' like we have now... less chance of water/wind getting inside an open one when out shopping etc.

Not continuing with the vertical drapes all round but going with thicker curtains with that sun block-out on the inside.

Stay cool there, Dot and stop trying to burn down your house. Enough air pollution without you burning your buttons       xxxx

Had a weird day again. The computer isn't co-operating with my phone. So wil have to take computer back to harvey normal and see what they can do. I then spent time trying to get the old laptop to take some pics off the phone (to prove thet phone isn't the problem) It took the pics off, but cant find them grrrrrrr. Thought, well if the computer has to have an overnighter at the shop, I need internet access on the old one. Tried to install the new wifi thingamy and it wouldn't connect. Somehow the computer has decided that it's now 2010, and unless the date is right internet doesn't work. Sorted that out and finally found the pics were all filed under a date for 2010. Thought computers were meant to save time. The only time mine saves is anyone who needs to read my stuff, handwriting is now stuffed.
I have taken all my frustrations out on the light globe smashing up there, very therapeutic. I cant go down to the shed to smash glass (air is full of crap) but this is almost the next best thing. Thanks for the therapy

night all xxx

If your computer is changing the date the little battery ( usually cr2032 ) that keeps the memory active in the bios is going flat.
This is attached to the mother board and depending on the make of the computer is easy to get out or not.

If you open the case , power unplugged, and can see it just unclip it and fit a new one , then reset the date and your away again.

Dot, I have to keep reminding myself that computers are meant to save us time...hahahaha. Hope you sort yours out mate xxxx

Took my laptop to hardly normals today to see what what. He reckons that it isn't a hardware issue but something really silly. While it's there he will do a full check up of the running stuff, so all is well-ish. I am still using the old win 7 laptop and thanks Ron for that advice. I will get the clock thingy fixed next time. Somehow, since it has been connected to power, the clock has remembered the time and date, but still an easy thing to have fixed.

I forgot about the lights exploding up there. The volume on this computer had been left turned up a bit. Nearly jumped off me chair i did.
Be nice if you could arrange for some of that snow to land on the bush fires, Bruce. ;) ;)
Still a bit scary here and don't dare to venture outside without a face mask on, so not really wanting to leave home to do stuff.

Sleep well out there xxx

Twas a cool day today = jumper weather. G finished off the mulching of the tree he "trimmed" yesterday and I sort of puddled around doing sort of nothing productive. Think this machine may have to go to a Dr, it is very slow and won't let me get into places I used to this has been mainly since we ditched the landline and now this thing is hooked into the new mob phone??? Might head off to the block for a few days to give the bus a run seeing the weather is cooler. BTW guess who got a full refund from Kogan?   Goodnight everyone :D x Goodnight Steve W :D x

Well done with your refund Dot. That's a rare occurrence with kogan, so very well done. Dot, your computer sounds like the issues I had with my old desktop. It starts with the software that had to be installed for the latest product. Best take it to an expert soon, before you throw it at the tv. xxxx

Ray, you gotta be joking! Thanks for suggesting the tiny battery. the old laptop is a 2010 toshiba quashi (or somthing equally ridiculous). Took it to hardly normals today. The guy opened the whole case up, top and bottom. He finally found the tiny battery. Not looking good here, it seems to be like a figure eight shaped thingy. Guy did some research and claims that the battery is not available for this machine anymore. bugga. At least I know that if I want to use that old computer for the interweb, then I will change the date first and give it a few hours charging before I even try to use it.

The rest of the day was spent fiddle farting around at hardly normals trying to get photos off the phone onto the computer. Man claimed to have doe it, but when I looked for some tonight, I could see that many are just not there. Think I will give hardly normal a miss and get the sil to play at Christmas time. He is a fancy computer nerd, working at Sydney uni in the computer section developing programs and stuff. May be some "bonding" time for us. :o

It's still smoke/hazy and horrible here, so working indoors is our only option.
goodnight everyone xxx
