Australian Trivia Only

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

There is another piece of background information to this story:
Scrivener’s contour map of the site helped shape Burley Griffin’s final layout of Canberra. He took advantage of the high points to develop the basic ‘triangle’ concept of Parliament-Law-Commerce into the layout you see today, and base it around the man-made Lake B-G which was possible because he saw a point where a dam could be built.
B-G actually did a draft street map overlay on a print of Scriviner’s contour map.

Ok, thanks Ray.

One for the history hackers.

Who had a port named after him after he was sacked as a pilot. The summary of his exit papers described him as ‘'useless as a Pilot from Drunkenness and other infirmities' ?

Next question was it a sea port or a port wine named in his honour?
