After a fair bit of researching the best way to go for us I have just ordered an Easysat deluxe kit from Easysat. This kit has a tripod rather than the mini sat set-up that sits on a triangular base on the ground.
I have never missed not having TV in the bush but after much ‘encouragement’ from SWMBO I have taken the plunge. One factor that swayed in favour of a sat TV was the fact that we have a reasonably new Austar dish on our roof here with cabling to our TV and quite often the digital service we get here is pretty poor. I also have maintained a postal address in a western town and can get a 'permanent' VAST service
Questions - Does the Austar dish need re-aligning or do they use the same satellite and will I need a new LNB for VAST?

There are two OPTUS satellites C1 and D3 that occupy the same "space" I believe Austar is in this mix.
Apart from pointing the B thing in the right place you should have no problems.

If you're a 'trveller' you can get the free service even with an address in the centre of Sydney. You just have (or used to?) reactivate it each half year.
Digital service is not what Analogue used to be.

I did think of the 'traveller' service but I thought it would be easier to have a permenant one, especially if I connect it up at home
I am just about over this digital service. We pick ours up from Townsville, a mere 100klm away. When it's good its great but when it is a bit ordinary it's bloody hopeless

My Easysat arrived today and I hooked it up and found the satellite very easily with the sat-finder. Plugged it all in and guess what, it worked. Registered for VAST on the web site and had it activated in minutes. High definition too Almost as easy as tuning up for digital TV. Next step is to see if it will work straight away on the Austar dish for the household TV.

Well plugged it into the Austar dish with the sat finder attached and guess what? The signal strength is even better than the portable dish was showing, around 84%. Hooked it up to my projector and surround sound and now watching really big screen TV. Can't wait for State of Origin

I have been looking at the east sat deluxe thing . How are you all going with it. Postage is a bit dear I have asked if pickup is available as he is only up the road a bit, good excuse to have lunch at there local.
