hi Bernie, call it what they like but just think of the lives it could either save or find a body Ivan Milat's dumping grounds etc, that's all I was thinking about. I don't go hopping fences or robbing banks so it wouldn't bother me. When I get Dementia it would be very handy Maybe if there was such a device it could only be activated if there was evidence of foul play or a request from parent. Trouble is storing the information in the good old USA. The federal government has refused The Australian police access but the USA federal police could access the information and pass it on to who ever they wish. Was in agreement till this fact came out now a big NO FROM ME.

When the numpties running gummint IT reckon it’s a good idea to hand our data AND the decrypt key to Amazon it seems to prove they’ve got granite for brains.
Remember, these are the same people who gave the top three positions in Defence Signals Authority to Chinese citizens who also happen to be lecturers employed by the University of the People’s Liberation Army of China!

Debating in govt now about making it a compulsory download or not.
If they eventually work up the courage to make it compulsory (like seatbelts) I know three people who will definitely NOT be downloading it...

They don’t own mobile phones.

Two of them don’t even have computers!

Perhaps in these cases the gummint might do a ‘school at home’ solution: give them free mobile phones.

The Australian Gov't is a registered business in Washington so it's good sense to use a large business service that's already established it's viability to handle a huge influx of data.
But as I rarely have location and bluetooth turned on on my phone because any major shopping centre can track my trail thru them, I can't see that even if I did download the App it still wouldn't be any good for me

As this app could only be useful after sufficient market penetration and is supposed to only be accessed after one of the app carriers tests positive to Covid 19, the information collected about the community transfer rate would require another 14 days minimum from the app carrier first testing positive. This is because the incubation period is 14 days, it won't indicate where the carriers picked it up, just who they have been in contact with so they can test them ...... how long till sufficient data could be collected and correlated to become meaningful for the purpose it was intended? Think about it, mths, that sure isn't going to speed up the lock downs being lifted. This is just the "Australia Card" on steroids with the collected data going to one of the all time great data collectors to "store safely"
I'm guessing most people realise just how hard it is to keep someone out of your personal computer if the really want access, can you imagine keeping them out of the "Cloud" ?
If the theft of intellectual property or the breeches of stored personal data at various places is to be believed, and I see no reason not to believe it, how could the personal tracking information of any individual with the app be kept secure?

Of course the next question is, why don't they simply use the tracking facilities the telcos have now to trace criminals and criminal elements to find their associates and round the whole lot up ..... who says they don't?
Are we all paranoid, or did a lot of us read "1984" and realise just how close it could be to reality right now, just without the warnings about "Big Brother is watching" .......
