Ray, I think that we should all do the best we can. Everyone is good at something! You just need to find out what that is. Today I want to be good at ....something.
Some of us were lucky enough to get a decent education and can read and write properly. But I have worked with a number of people over the years that weren't all that fortunate, and they struggled a bit.
I'm watching the early news as I type this, and it looks like the work experience kid is doing the caption writing again. Why do a lot of the current crop of news reporters begin a sentence with 'Yeah, right' or something similar?

I am a regular correspondent with some of the TV stations over their crawler errors! Some of them even respond!!

As far as the "Yeah, right" goes, it's verbal padding to allow the brain to catch up with the mouth, likewise the initial "So" in a response (usually from an academic). Seems they have superceded "Umm" and "Err".
Note this is different to "Yeah, nah", which, while being used in a road safety ad at the moment, originates from Queensland, and is their variation on "No".

Is that they same as the Qld 'ehh',in response to just about an question or how you complete a sentence. When you are in FNQ it morphs to ehh but. Which can be a question or an answer. I shouldn't whinge though as I am as quilty of it as anyone else.

Last trip I did up to the Qld coalmine country I couldn't believe all the "oldmates" in almost every sentence!
No names just oldmates ..... (male & female)
I had to wonder if it was all the mating going on before corona virus slowed oldmate down?
