Tanks, hope your pain has subsided, I can understand your misery Bruce had his first kidney stone attack fifty years ago & has suffered with same ever since, he has one in each kidney now hopefully they stay put because they are to big to pass.

This is a pain that I don't want to suffer again.
I am swallowing Endone tablets like ju-ju jubes, with a follow-up of panadol osteo to ease the pain. This does dull some of the spasam.
In the event that the ultrasound shows a large stone, the way to go is to bust it into several smaller 'bits' with laser treatment---then the 'bits' still have to be passed. more pain = more pills or injections. ugh.
Looking forward to an event free age 83.

Bruce's urologist would be prepared to attempt the laser treatment on his stones but if they don't explode then it would mean an operation & at 80 Bruce thinks leave them alone unless they start giving him more trouble. He would definitely agree with you re the pain, Bruce use to have them blown up on a lithotripter machine, 7 times over the years & I have lost count of the number that he has passed, always in extreme pain. He was under the metabolic unit at the repatriation hospital Concord for 15 years, trying to discover why he kept producing stones, one thought was that it was his parathyroid gland but was never conclusive, at that time he was on a calcium free diet & was prescribed Calisorb.

Bruce has three lasts, his father was in charge of the leather room at a big engineering manufacturer & use to mend everyone's shoes in the old days.

Dad, in his 90's, has spongy kidneys.

Has been as long as I can remember. 50+ years.

Stawberries send him right off. To be avoided at all costs.

Interesting read Jon thanks, never heard of spongy kidneys, Bruce has been under so many different urologists & kidney specialists over the years, he has never passed them that often but since moving to the Central Coast, NSW the local hospital knew him & he never had to wait for that all important injection to relieve the pain.
Bruce's cousin collapsed on the footy field when he was in his thirties & investigation discovered that he had a calcified kidney & it had to be removed, he's 73 yrs old now.

Noted with interest about the strawberries and reaction.
I have in the past month been having strawberries and cream or thick custard.
I will mention this to my G.P. after the CT Scan on Wednesday.
Thanks for posting this info for consideration.
I was concerned that the cause may be Mad Fish (Margaret River WA) premium red wine, which Erick and I enjoyed a few weeks ago when they were visiting. I am 82 years old and I have never had any problem in this department, so I was looking for a trigger or a reason to bring this condition on.
I prefer that the strawberry is the cause and not the Mad Fish.

I thought that might be the case. "No hide, no Christmas Present" as my Nanna used to say...
However, I can top Bruce in the Bootlast Department: thanks to Dot & George's efforts my collection has grown by six, and now numbers 18. As far as I can tell, all are unique. No duplicates (yet found, anyway).

Ray, do you know which last was your first last? Did you expect the first last to be your last last? How many times have you said that the last last was to be your last last? For there to be a last last first you have to identify the second last last, only then can you get a last last. If you line them all up in order from the first last to the last last, then shift the first last to last last and the last last to first last, would the first last become the last last or would it remain the first last, and at the same time , would the last last become the first last or would it still be the last last? If you positively declare a last last to be the last last but you are given another last, does that last become the last last or does it become the first last and the last last of a new collection? Lastly, .......... never mind.
