Must have been a pretty hot time when the active hooked up with the neutral in that terminal box. I haven't seen anything that nuked for ages
Cheers

Had a similar experience some years ago...
My $250 tyre-pump went into meltdown to protect the 20c in-line fuse.

Re: Job for a sparky
Had similar right here in the yard when a "customer" decided to start on his own job before we had returned from a Stone the Crows trip. Put a hole saw through a wall and linked the main positive and negative cables from the battery back to the main fusebox. Owner fitted cables so no fuses of course ... still think it might have been an attempted insurance claim against us because it happened in our yard and they thought Brian (Homeless) was an employee and they were working under his guidance.
If you add to the mess in the photo Wayne put up, the whole harness that went from under the bed to the front boot, then back again and through the cupboards and wrapped around the 240vac cabling .... and it was still plugged into the mains ... it was a wonder no one was electrocuted, but they did empty 3 fire extinguishers on it until Brian finally removed the battery terminals rather than switching the circuit breakers off in the front boot .... which actually isolated nothing at all ......

Re: Job for a sparky
It sounds like someone was lucky that Brian was about. Unfortunately some people have no idea how to begin to extinguish an electrical fire.
Cheers
