Nostradamus predicted the "Red army v the Blue army" followed by 1,000 yrs of peace ..... The USA, UK, Australia, NZ and few other allied nations have a predominantly blue flag, China and Russia have a predominantly red flag ........

T1,
Perhaps he meant the US alone:
Democrats vs Republicans.

... or Oz: Liberals vs Labor!

.... or UK: Labour vs Tories.

Now that both Prince Leonard & Princess Shirley have passed on, the Crown Prince is in charge. (Can’t remember his name.)
Perhaps you should email him and ask.
Don’t know where they’d quarantine visitors....

Re: Pardon my Schadenfreude
He also predicted there would be a 24 year war of attrition starting in 2004, culminating in the red and blue war. When you look at the state of world societies, it seems he was on the money with his predictions.
The Rumps seems to have lost the plot at the moment and is becoming more and more irrational, to the point where some of his biggest supporters are turning against him. It's the locked in degenerate right wing gun nutters who are the ones to watch, they wear red hats and have T shirts which say god, guns and Trump on them, an interesting few weeks ahead.
Can understand there may be 1000 years of peace, at the rate things are going, there won't be many people left anyway.

I think it was Albert Einstein that is quoted as saying the 4th world war would be fought with sticks and stones .... I guessing he meant the human race would be blasted back into the stone age if a 3rd world war broke out .... but maybe we will end up back there without a war anyway .....Can understand there may be 1000 years of peace, at the rate things are going, there won't be many people left anyway.

A bit before my time Bruce, must have been somewhere between the wars I'm guessing and not in an industrial town or near a wharfBrucie2 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 3:52 pm Probably right Terry!!
The total break down of a decent society can only end one way.
Remember the GOOD old days?
Women never swore.
Men never swore in the company of children or females.
Men married women. (or vice versa?)
Unlawful to have same gender sex. (or beastiality)
Ray can/will add more but you get the gist?

There might not have been same sex marriages but there certainly were plenty of homosexuals and child molesters but it wasn't spoken about in public like it is today. We probably would all be speaking German if it wasn't for the homosexual that invented the Enigma machine, but they tortured him when they found out due to some sort of bias against such people. The authorities for what ever reason turned a blind eye to abusive parents, wife bashers and religious sexual predators, anyone in a position of power could get away with child sexual abuse because the child was obviously lying ...... Can't see how they were the good old days Bruce, I think society has come a long way and for the better since those times.
As far as what is happening in the USA, the place was always seen as crazy town where lobby groups ran the government via political donations either to campaign funds or directly into the pocket, we tend to accept it into our own political system until someone misses out on the handouts, then they expose it. Only a society that has lost control would allow a constitutional amendment that allowed crazies to buy as many guns as they had $$ for and shoot up schools, public places and now threaten to shoot up the place if their choice of president doesn't win ......

Re: Pardon my Schadenfreude
Minor point, T1:
The “homosexual genius” didn’t invent the Enigma. He was on the Allied side.
Alan Turing invented the first analog computer so British Intelligence could break the codes of the German Enigma machine.
Unfortunately the Powers That Be decided it was so secret it had to be destroyed after the German surrender.
Otherwise we would probably have had personal computers in the 1950s.
The film The Imitation Game is a fairly accurate presentation of his part in WWII (and his double-cross by authorities after).

Men used to tip their hat when passing a woman in the street, and remove it when entering a building.
They would open the door for a woman.
If they were approaching a doorway, gate or somesuch at the same time as a woman, they would allow her through first.
Men walked on the kerb-side of the footpath at all times, in case a passing carriage/car drove through a puddle as it passed.
In the Australian Army, the F-word was not used even in battle. (The film Kokoda notwithstanding...)
Is that enough, Bruce?

Re: Pardon my Schadenfreude
WELL, Well...
SEVENTEEN new cases of Covid-19 in Adelaide, eh?
Does that mean that Premier Dan will close the Vic/SA border immediately?
At least the Adelaide residents will know the feeling of being a pariah in your own country, as us Victorians have been for EIGHT MONTHS.
I just feel sorry for residents of rural SA. Like us rural Victorians, you’ll be tarred with the same brush as the Big City... despite ZERO Covid-19 cases.
