T1,
Glad you added that last line.
I was beginning to wonder what was left for you...

The oil is normally pumped by the engine turning the torque converter and it has a drive section that fits into the transmission gear pump that supplies oil at high pressure for the whole box to function. The lubrication part doesn't need the high pressure, just a flow of oil at around 30psi.
The sprinter I plan to tow is an auto I was gonna disconnect the tail shaft at the diff.

Didn't know about adapting a pump to an auto.
Any hints on how that could be a achieved??

Hand thought about a dog clutch, but don't know where to get that done.

Remco were the people who were doing all the towed vehicle mods, the yanks call it Dinghy towing, but they pulled the plug on it 1st Oct this yr. Maybe you could contact them to see if you can buy one of the oil pumps and see if they have a diagram for the plumbing into the sprinter transmission.
If you ask a transmission specialist if he can investigate modifying the transmission to add a 12v electric oil pump to the transmission lubricating system, you might find one who is willing to take the job on.
