Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Damn, you’re quick, David!
Thought it might take someone a bit longer to find that on Google.
Never mind.

Your turn, Supersparky!!!

Thanks Ray.
The first shot fired in anger in the British Empire at the beginning of WW1 was in Australia.
Where was it?
Bonus point if you name what the shot was directed at.
Cheers

P-NG coastal battery.
I think it was aimed at a German submarine.

Not really sure Ray. The event I refer to happened in Vic.
Is that enough of a clue?

Port Philip coastal battery fired across the bow of a German freighter trying to leave before the public announcement of the State of War.

Thanks David,

Q: One of our Prime Ministers was a serious under-achiever.
At Melbourne Grammar he was appointed School Captain, captained their football, cricket and rowing teams, won a Rowing Blue at Cambridge University, then won a Military Cross and Croix de Guerre in battle. He sat in the British House of Lords, the only Australian ever to do so. Oh, and he was elected Captain at the historic St Andrews Golf Club in Scotland!
What is his name?

Ray, that fellow has a bit of decent history for a politician. I reckon his biography would make for an interesting read. I wonder if anyone has written one for him?
