Dot, what T1 is saying is right, a bit blunt, but right.
Stuff these days is only built to last maybe 5 years. If you get more than that, and some will, then it is a bonus.
Things have changed a lot, and mostly for the better in the past 10 -15 years. The only hiccup with running a 240v fridge is having enough battery to keep it running overnight. I wish we had lithiums in the Winny but can't afford a proper setup yet. When we do, the 3way is gone and an inverter start domestic unit will be installed.
Was that link helpful with your problem?

Yes David it was. G has started the fridge up with stuff in it to see what if anything happens. If you put a household fridge in how much battery power would you need?

Hi Dot,

how much solar (watts) and battery ah do you have?

We have 1200 watts and ridiculous battery ah (for powering the A/C off grid) and run the inefficient Aldi house fridge with no trouble

Dot , I have 1000w of solar and 300ah of AGM battery at 24V running a 220litre Hisense non inverter type fridge without a problem. Overnight the battery drops to approx 93%.

Our solar-powered clothes dryer (‘drier’ is the comparative) works perfectly every time...😀

J-d. we have 500w solar and 540 amp hrs battery. G has just checked the fridge and it is doing what it is supposed to do Freezer freezing and the fridge temp is 2. It is cool outside as well.
It works very well on the gas. Never have run it on the 12 v.

Bruce, I shall get G to read your post I have no idea of what you speak  But we usually run it on gas when not plugged in to 240v and when on the move it runs off the inverter and house batteries that are charged by the bus batteries.
G said tomorrow he is going to take the vents of the fridge and the air cons and give them all a good blowing out.

Clothes dryer  had one when sprog arrived, never needed one since.

400w of solar will run a 250ltr fridge through summer and winter, if the batteries recharge fast enough to recover in a single day after 2 days of poor solar weather, otherwise a separate form of charging like from the bus alternator might be required.
A 250ltr inverter type fridge/freezer will use less than 80Ah @ 12v per day, that includes the inverter losses to power it ... well, if you use one of the Victron Pheonix 375va inverters anyway. That is less than the 220ltr 12v/24v fridges use, yet the performance is chalk and cheese.
If the 540Ah of AGM batteries are in good condition, you should have around 250Ah available and that would run the inverter and inverter style fridge for 3 days of rain .... as long as you didn't use the batteries to power anything else. So if you banked on 2 days of bad weather before you had to start the bus, you would have no problems at all.
The benefit of lithium batteries in this case is the speed they can be recharged back to enough capacity to cover the loads over night. Lithium batteries are not harmed in any way by not returning to a 100% state of charge where AGM and other lead acid batteries will start to sulphate and loose capacity and the ability to recharge after more than a few days between 100% state charge recharging ....

My overnight usage with 220l fridge including inverter, lights and computer usage was 30Ah at 24V. With very overcast sky at the moment I am receiving minimal solar input and battery is at 92%.

Hi Dot.

Your solar and batteries will be enough. Best to fit a dedicated small inverter for the fridge. This minimizes standby current when the fridge is not cooling and you can have the big inverter turned off.

If you have more space, it would be good to fit more solar to the roof.... you've added a few items since the build. (heater, new fridge, etc.)
