Re: Solar panel
Wayne, if there is a little bit of space under the panel, and there should be, you could put your phone on video and slide it around on a bit of cardboard or something. It might take bit of trial and error, to find the makers data tag, but you should be able to figure it out. Or, you could unbolt it and have a look. Is it just one panel or a multiple of similar panels?
Cheers

Re: Solar panel
Disconnect the wires from the panel, read the open circuit voltage, then the short circuit amps (current) when the sun is directly overhead. You might need to do a few tests to get the best reading. Multiply these 2 numbers together, then multiply by 0.76 and this will give you a rough idea of what the panel's output is in the position it is mounted and allowing for age degradation ....... the result is often a lot less then many are lead to believe their solar actually does produce.
We sometimes do a test on a customers old panels and then the same test of the new panels we install so they have a better comparison of just what their solar is capable of producing, allowing for the flat mounting, compared to the sticker value on the rear of the panel. We never see a big smile when we show just what their old solar could produce, but they often confirm that is about the best they have seen as far as charging rates ... they are at least happier when the figures we come up with compare very closely with what they can see on the phone app coming out of each solar regulator ..... and it is better than what they had before
Not sure what we'd do if it didn't come out good
Certainly have us searching for the cause anyway .....

Why don't you just use a tape measure?Mrcoolabah1au wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 10:22 am How do you tell what size a panel is that is already bolted down on someone Motorhome![]()
