sliding step fuse

Does any one know where the fuse for the sliding step is on a 2009 Jayco Optimum ?

Peter, if it is wired like my Winny, it is at the battery box. Which in my case is right next to step. Hope you can get it sorted without too much grief.

Depends if the step is powered by the start battery or the house battery. The last Jayco we did, the house battery was under the bed and the fuses were in there, but apart from asking the Jayco dealer and giving the build number of your unit, it might be a matter of checking every fuse you can find ... twice  Or just the once is you have substitute fuses that you know are good and swap each fuse out for the known good one.

Thanks David and Terry for the info, I have checked all the fuses in the truck cabin and they are ok. Will ring Jayco on Tuesday ,they may be helpful but in the meantime I will check under the bed in the battery compartment and go on a serious diet so I can fit under the motorhomes low clearance to check the wiring.  :D

Just checked under the bed, only a resettable fuse, solar fuses and and the main battery fuses in the battery area. The fuses under the fridge are ok (House wiring) Looks like a diet coming up... :D

What switch triggers the step Peter? Opening the door? Manual switch or ???
Be interesting to see if power is going to that?
I guess it's motor powered so it may even be that?
Bound to be the last thing you check so start with THAT first!!! 8-)

From memory, prone to failure lately, the step retracts when the ignition is switched on no matter what position the step switch is set in. That means there must be a switching relay that is energised to the close step position from the ignition on wiring. Chances are that relay has failed so the step stays permanently closed.
Wait till Taggerty and :
A) Someone will be willing to get under there and check it for you
B) we can organise a team to dig a pit under the step area so you can slide under and check it out
C) There will be a heap of advice on what the problem could be while seated around the campfire. The more firewater consumed the wilder the possibilities will be

The bookies are open taking bets on A, B or C being the most likely scenario, C is currently an odds on favourite

There is a switch in the door way that is always turned on , the ignition controls the step ,ignition on and the step retracts. I have checked the switch voltage...zero volts . That's why I'm looking for a fuse that I can't find. Possibly a relay failure is the cause.
