Peter, I just ask Mr Google about Jayco step problems. Plenty of hits on the Jayco forum. Looks just like the one on our Winny. There are a few wiring diags on various sites. Print one out and bring it with you in a week or so. One of us will fit underneath, hopefully. There are a few sites that say - check the earth is ok, or it won't work. :D

There is option D.........I find the problem and all bets are off, but I wouldn't bet on that :D

I called the Jayco dealer where I bought the motor, he didn't shed much light on the problem but he said I could book it in to be checked in October.   That's a true story , that's why the laughing emoji.

I've been trying to get enough bets on "C" to make it worth my while climbing under there myself and finding and maybe fixing what's wrong. $10 each bet so far is only $20 and I gotta tell ya, it's not looking real good as far as it being me who climbs under there

We have an intermittent problem with our electric step too. It doesn’t always retract when the ignition is switched on. We drove around Barcaldine with the step out last year. Lucky not to wipe it off before we discovered it.

Took it to our local Jayco approved repairer who managed to trigger the safety mechanism of the “Terry box” so there was no 12v to the house. 🙄 Erich was able to reset using T1’s troubleshooting instructions. Won’t be doing that again. Yet to work out the step problem.

Dave, what is the Jayco forum? I’m a member of a couple of Facebook pages but not a forum.

When we had our Winnie there was an extra switch to the left in the step well just in case the ignition didn't work to bring the step in. G said it was already in the bus when we bought it at 11,000 ks.

Hmm. Not in ours.
Coupla years ago we had problems with steps which wouldn’t fully retract. Stopped about 2” short.
Townsville Winnie dealer replaced the whole shebang — for $1,000.
At least the job was done in 48hrs once the assembly arrived from Emu Plains. Although I did have to jump up & down and speak rather loudly, otherwise it would have been 2 weeks.
Steps have functioned perfectly ever since.
Regards & God bless,
Ray
