Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Deb,
You're procrastinating... tsk tsk!
;)

Get out there, fire it up, then sit there all through the night watching your kiln doing its thing.
:D

When you have a hobby, you occasionally have to make sacrifices...
What's a night's sleep compared to the excitement of creating stuff? :P

Shirley, you are so right there.

Slave driver, Ray. Yes kiln got fired today for a test run. Took it up to 700 degrees C and all seems well.

I am noticing just how scratched up the paint on the door is. Not a sign of a well cared for piece of equipment. I am sure the scratches won't affect it's heating capacity in any way. :D
I have to get a few more bits of construction done to make a bit more space in my shed. So his nibs is being turned into a carpenter , very soon.

Been feasting on my home grown red dragon fruit. They are blood red inside and not like the ones that woolies says are red and they are white inside. Much sweeter flavour in the red ones.

Deborah home grown fruit always taste better, picked when ready to eat and not gassed and stored for months on end in a freezer.

Trust the oven works well and you get many good years from it.

Take care Robert

Ray, it probably would incinerate pizza, but the prospect of consuming silica dust sort of puts me off a bit. ;) ;) ;)

Had no internet last night. The dongly thing just froze on and would not connect. So off to telstra this morning., expecting it to cost an arm and a leg. Man looked at it, with all the lights shining brightly. Took off the back, wiped the battery and hey presto, fixed. I had hunted around to find the battery last night, but it's well hidden. I will know for next time and it cost me no more than a smile.

We spent most of yesterday rebuilding the stand for the old kiln and making a few extra shelves. Now my shed feel a lot more roomy and will work better for me. So happy dragonlady.

After visiting telstra today we went to Aldi and found they have a brand of Australian made soup (The soup company), made here from local ingredients. So happy to find some tommy soup, for all those recipes that need it. I make all other soups from fresh ingredients, just prefer tomato soup in a tin.

George, give Dot a hug from us please. xxxx

I have been busy doing some trials with the kiln. Yesterday I fired it up to 820 degrees to see how the glass flowed through a holey mold. There was still some glass left on top of the mold, so decided to try again, this time at 860 degrees. That's 70 degrees higher than the old kiln could fire. After setting it to work, I left and did other stuff outside. Went back to check it before I cooked dinner and it had stopped firing. The error message suggested that the controller had gotten too hot. Moved the controller further away from the kiln and re-started it. Checked it at 10pm to find all is under control. It had made it to 750 degrees and was still firing. Not planning on going down there in the cold and dark to check again. It can wait until breakfast time.

We noticed the sound of the lake was huge for a quiet evening. We really don't get huge tide variations as we are at the very end of the lake and away from the ocean entrance at Swansea. It was a huge tide, rushing in and looked like it was going to be really high. Our jetty was almost under water and the tide was still rushing in. So that's the real world.

Good evening everyone from uptown Strathambyn. Terrie and I are yard dwelling at Dot and George's tonight. We have shared a few laughs and a story or two. Might even get a pic or two. Sleep tight vegemites.
Cheers
