Dot, more hugs xxx
David, could we have a health report on the Dotty one please?
Ray, South end, right next to Vales Point Power station, Mannering Park.
Did a lot of scrubbing today. The piece that had been fired for so long has stuck to a lot of the kiln paper and it was a long tedious job. But all good now. Ready to fire it again tomorrow to make a jelly fish sculpture. The old kiln is firing tonight with a couple of covers/lids for liquid soap dispenser. Dettol make a great dispenser, but the refills are ridiculously dear. So i have cut off the top of an empty refill and filled it the liquid soap of my choice. Gladwrap or alfoil were my first thoughts, but then glass is really more attractive. So that's what's firing tonight.

Deb,
Nice area. I grew up at the north end, Warners Bay.
When we moved there, the town ‘shopping centre’ consisted of a general store/PO.
That’s it.
Went back coupla years ago...
the whole waterfront was wall-to-wall shops!
And the swamp on the Cardiff Road is now a big-box shopping mall.
(I hope the foundation work was good!)
Often rode my bicycle to your area (training). Nicer and less busy than the east side. Also more challenging hills...
really got the heart pumping!

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Good night everyone. Dot is travelling OK at the mo'. And so is George. Couple of things to sort out still. We have spent the evening having a laugh or five. Had a bit of a tour around Strathalbyn today. What a lovely old town with so many interesting old buildings.
Cheers

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Glad that David is giving you a good-ish report Dot. Stay sane mate xxxx
Ray, I grew up in Belmont and boy, hasn't that changed? The bay is so full of moored boats of every kind, that there leaves little space to get out and be on the water. You could almost walk across the bay by jumping from one boat to the next! Does not really feel like home anymore. Mannering Park is much quieter and we don't have as many boats moored out front either.
Still needing to fire the soap dispenser covers again. They refired today and didn't quite bend down around the edges enough, so will have to do another firing soon.

Stay sane and safe Dotty one xxxx
Been a bit busy with chiro and medical stuff, gggrrr
Today I started to glue lots of earrings onto backing posts, but being outside with the stinky glue got way too cold. That can wait for a better day.
I have a lot of scrap glass sitting in the kiln, warming up to make a jelly fish. It fired yesterday, but the tentacles didn't drop for long enough. Today it's being re-fired. Tomorrow will tell, if that's successful or not.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Hope you are still having a few laughs Dot xxxx
Just to show how hard I have been w**king.
The kiln set up ready for having glass loaded to make a jelly fish The smashed up glass added to set up Finished firing The final product Because it had been fused so many times, the glass was starting to look very dark brownish, so this had to the last chance at dropping it through the mold. Luckily, I am finally happy with it. Sorry for taking the pic on my dark bench, so the scroll and twists in the legs are a bit hard to see.
Finally that is one jelly fish that is finished.

Deb,
What is the mould made of? By the look of the jellyfish you had to destroy the mould to remove it.
Afterthought: On close inspection it looks like you could sell it as an eight-hole vase!

Dot xxxx
Ray the mold is home made from a product called silkemat. Just a fancy, expensive kiln safe fibre mat. And you are right about needing to destroy the mold after one firing. I do manage to recycle some of the edges to make barriers when firing other weird n whacky things. The jelly fish are sold as things for people who have everything. Great as vases, pen holders, candle stands and just plain sculptures.
Here are the things that I just put up on f**kbook. Obviously they are a series of monochromed bowls and plates. Still love the one that look like a two year old has been drawing in red on the bowl.
