Re: Second lock down
We managed to escape Victoria with 15 minutes to spare!

Currently on our 6th day in NSW. Eight days to go and we should then be able to legally enter Qld... provided Anna P doesn’t declare ALL Victorians to be disease-ridden pariahs.

Re: Second lock down
Hope you are staying in Northern Nsw Ray. The virus has been travelling through Huskisson on the South Coast, with no known cases, yet.
I believe some of the showgrounds in Qld are keeping anyone with Vic number plates as far away from Qlders, as they can. (stupidly they don't think about how long you have been on the road and away from Vicbloodytoria).

Re: Second lock down
Maybe we should keep Queenslanders out of Victorian caravan parks in case they have cane toads on board. Some people need to think things through, but I think fear and prejudice is taking over.

Re: Second lock down
We crossed the border — legally — two days ago.
No checkpoint. Staying at the CM#^ Campground (formerly Charleville Bush Camp) until Friday.
Plan:
1. Veg out.
When finished,
2. Repeat #1.

Re: Second lock down
I think half the comments are said tongue in cheek Peter?
For the life of me I can't understand why people are told to get out quick before midnight when the "gates" will be closed.
It's so stupid! They might as well say "OK folks if any of you think you might be infected let's see how many places you can visit & how many people you can infect"!!
Mannum today is holding it's annual Truck & Ute show. Advertising that exhibitors are coming from here & interstate.
Me? I'm not going within 4.5km of that crowd.

Re: Second lock down
Bruce,
Rutherglen — and the vast majority of regional/rural Victoria — have been virus-free throughout the pandemic.
We sat through the first three lockdowns, which played havoc with cross-border communities.
Examples:
— Our medical clinic had to shut for two weeks while they sorted out doctor travel. 100% of the doctors staffing the clinic come from the head clinic in NSW.
— Couldn’t get cars serviced, garage is in Corowa.
— Could shop locally, if prepared to pay $7 for a $1.50 tub of margarine.
You get the picture.
We were already planning a June 1st departure. Just brought it forward a few days after Son-&-Heir warned that the ‘7 day lockdown’ would probably ‘unfortunately have to be extended’ a few times.
Our first stop was Temora NSW, which is closer to the Melbourne infections than Mildura, which is locked down.
Gladys announced that anyone crossing their border after 16:00 would have to self-isolate for 14 days as if they were in Victoria. Funnily enough, the announcement came AFTER 16:00... I guess that was to prevent Melbourne residents crossing with the possibility of being infected.

Re: Second lock down
Yep, agree with all of that.
Was referring to anyone from Victoria that came from or had been in any of the "hotspots". Letting them know they had limited time to bolt is stupid.
Applies to anyone else in any other hotspot in any state or territory.
From a farmer's perspective why shut the gate after the sheep had got out? Better to leave it open as they might come home!!!

Re: Second lock down
... like the couple who left Melbourne & drove to Qld without quarantining ‘cos the woman — complete with Covid symptoms — had a job to go to?
